I had to handoff to my friend (who owned the game) to try to land on the carrier or refuel. Even that was a 50/50 crap shoot!

Lol, my dad had a Sega 32x and a Saturn, and he even bought a ing Jaguar. He hated Nintendo so much, that he made us go through 3 ty consoles to not buy from Nintendo.

Landing and refueling wasn't quite as hard as he made it out to be. At least not for me. I wasn't 100% successful but I'm pretty sure my success/fail ratio was about 3/1. I passed level 2 once. Never passed level three. I'm pretty sure I broke a controller playing that game.

Same here. I didn't remember the landing and fueling being nearly as hard as he said. I immediately went to one of those NES emulator sites and I was found that I could still land at about a 80% clip. But yeah, I could never beat that second level.

What made the landing hard for 10 year-old kids was it would tell you to go up a lot when you also needed to be accelerating. Once you figured out UP! UP! meant increase your at ude and accelerate, landing became easy.

I actually think the best moment in any AVGN video is when he clones himself to play Nightmare on Elmstreet with 4 players. The way all the clones are cursing and at the end where they all add on to the line: "the with that " is priceless.
