Mel Kiper's wife, Kim Kiper, handles just about everything regarded to her husband's work except scout players as part of their cottage NFL draft industry. Kim even cuts her Mel's famous hair.
“She tried to change it, and I said absolutely not,” says Mel.
The couple has been working together since 1989.
Kiper got into the business because he wanted to become an NFL scout and gave his reports to former Giants' GM Ernie Accorsi, who encouraged him to sell the information to fans.

I went to bed at hoping to wake up around 11. It's only 8.
Well Steven that being said, if that all goes according to plan than outside linebacker is what they need desperately.
Brian Cushing out of USC I think would fit in great.
Larry English POSSIBLY.
Aaron Curry? I don't know if hes worth trading up in the draft for but damn, he would be great with Okoye...
If there is one player in this draft trading up for, it's Curry.
Yeah I agree, but the Texans are usually pretty conservative trading wise, but Curry would turn the Texan's swiss cheese defense, into a good run defense.
First round OLB, second CB.
Shame they couldn't pick up the CB out of Alabama. IMO that kid has shut down capabilities.
Watch out for Sean Smith. He has a lot of potential. I'd love for the Raiders to draft him in the second.
Who's going to draft Michael Metree? I hope he lands with the Fish.
Per NFL Network: If the pick they want is there at 8, the JEts will trade up.
I am pretty sure it's Sanchez.
I honestly don't get the Clay Matthews hype.
Come on Chiefs dont pass on Curry, geeeeez. And yea Clay Matthews is wack. Hes gonna get paid millions while my boy only gonna get minimum rookie deal and he ran the 4th fastest 40 time for linebackers, right behind Aaron Curry. Well see where he lands.
Man, I am nutting myself watching these Eugene Monroe highlights.
Monroe is a good tackle, but those knees are a worry.
Andre Smith is the best OT, and overall player IMO, in the draft. He's the only tackle who bent guys back last year.Of course, he's probably one of the biggest bust potentials because of his ten cent head. But the dude dominated on the field.
I don't like the other Smith at all.
Hah. That 99' look back was great. The most pissed off fans(Eagles) got the best QB.
Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree left an unfavorable impression after visiting with the Oakland Raiders. "He came across as a little goofy and kind of arrogant," said an executive in personnel for the team. "Just a different guy."
Raiders shopping Burgess and Huff. Think Huff, Burgess, and the #40 overall pick could get it done? Maybe even a 2010 5th rounder.
