(MVP of every tournament he won, except for the NBA where he came one vote short of getting finals MVP).
Just for the record, the '05 Finals MVP vote was 6-4 Duncan-Manu. So Manu was one vote short of being co-MVP, two votes short of being the MVP.

I thought there were an odd number of voters so there could be no co-MVP.

No and No. Not even that close.
    this.

TD without a doubt. Parker will make it into the hall eventually, Manu doesn't even come close.

If you remove the NBA only restriction, yes he is. He's one of the few players to win all the biggest events in basketball while beign a major part of his teams (MVP of every tournament he won, except for the NBA where he came one vote short of getting finals MVP).

I thought there were an odd number of voters so there could be no co-MVP.
There are nine media votes, the tenth was a fan vote.

The NBA nearly had to order an extra Finals MVP trophy following the Spurs' championship. Tim Duncan, who joined Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal as the only players to win the award at least three times, received six votes to Manu Ginobili's four.

The nine media voters -- fan balloting on NBA.com accounted for the 10th vote -- were not allowed to split their ballots among multiple players.
    The vote breakdown from '05:

    Duncan:

    Mike Monroe S. A. Express
    C. McCoskey Detroit News
    J. McCallum Sport Illustrated
    Hubie Brown Canal ABC
    Jack Ramsay ESPN Radio
    S. Aschburner Minneapolis Tribune

    Manu:

    J. Ludden S. A. Express
    Perry Farrel Detroit F. Press
    David Dupree USA Today

Actually Manu's probably in even if he decided to hang it up and retire today not for his NBA career though but for his overall international career and accomplishments.

I do not consider for instance that AI is > Manu or TP.
I hope thats a joke. This is about an entire career, not a present day list. Bias will happen, but that is just insanity.

BTW, TP, CP, Howard, Wade, LeBron, D-Will, KD, Derrick Rose, Agent Zero(if he finishes his career healthy), and others would be on that list before manu before all is said and done.

I agree that in terms of individual acomplishments Manu doesn't even come close to AI on the NBA, but if you give me to choose between a young Iverson and a young Manu to start my team, give me young Manu anyday of the week.

    in no particular order

    ...
Yeah, it's pretty hard to put Tony over more than a few on that list, and LeBron, Howard, CP3, and Durant will surely end up higher anyways. Maybe DWill and Rose too. Manu you absolutely could never make an argument for top 100.

I'd take a young Iverson over a young Manu any day of the week... now an old Manu vs an old Iverson, I'd clearly take Manu.

If you could give me Detroit Rodman, I would strongly disagree. Maybe even Chicago Rodman. SA, LA, or Dallas Rodman, definitely.

You need longevity in the NBA to make that list. You also needed to have made somewhat heavy statistical contributions along the way. Manu is neither on pace for a long NBA career nor has the heavy statistical contributions to put him in talks with the majority of those ppl on that list. And i'm just referring to where Manu is lacking. His value is in things that are hard to quantify. He is as good as anyone when it comes to being clutch and doing intangible things. So many times he single-handedly won games for us in past playoffs series. The dude only thinks "win" and gets us their in so many different ways. I would definitely take Manu in his prime on my team up their with alot of ppl on that list.

TP has a chance to make the list considering he is on pace for a pretty long career and is also starting to turn over a new leaf with his role on the Spurs.

P.s. Dikembe Mutombo? Grant Hill? Even Alonzo is kind of suspect to me.

Manu's a mortal lock for the HOF, right now. You do realize that it's the Basketball HOF and not the NBA HOF, right? There are girls, referees, coaches, Euros, and NCAA players who never played 1 minute of NBA ball inducted already. Between his Euroleague, FIBA, and NBA careers, he's goin' in. If you go to the website, look at the career bio for the late Drazen Petrovic. It's the prototype for the Euro/FIBA/NBA player that you will see going into the hall.

I haven't seen anyone try to make that case anywhere in this thread, aside from the OP asking the question.
If it is 50 greatest NBA players no, but if it is 50 greatest basketball players then Manu should be in it.

You fail at reading comprehension. I said that if the list is NBA restricted (which it is) then Manu isn't even close, but if the list is about basketball in general, then yes he should make it. And if you don't think so, then you also fail at basketball knowledge.

Why are you seeing and mentioning manu in the same list with all those great players, he shouldnt even been mentioned in this topic. Manu is no way, not even the smallest tiny part of what TD and TP and all the other good nba players are. TD and TP are hall of famers. And manu? ----->

No where in this sentence to I mention that the 50 greatest basketball players would exclude NBA players. Nowhere. The fact that I'm arguing that I did is a make believe fantasy, reminiscent of the skits on Sesame Street.
