i'm getting the sense that there's a growing amount of people that would like to see another attack.
I think his re-election is more dependent on events rather than how good his next campaign is. If there is another major terrorist attack in the US or if the economy really tanks further then he is done. If neither of those happen, I think he's a shoe in for a second term even with an average or below average campaign.

Pray for the worst.
I guess the GOP hopes for another attack so they can get power back. I'm glad to be an American!
Bush won re-election after a terrorist attack even after he didn't win a majority of the popular vote in the prior election. Be careful what you wish for, politically, as well as for your fellow countrymens' sake.
Who said anything about hoping for another attack?
That's because the country rallied around him after a "suprise" terrorist attack. Obama and future presidents won't be treated the same, instead they'll get the blame.
subconsciencely[sp] you did.
just let the libs have their fun. remember "we" lost.
yeah. If you criticize us super-patriotic neoprogressive 'conservatives' then yew'se a "lib."
Why did McCain have to pick an unqualified VP?
Why did Hillary have to have such a loose lip?
Had either of these things not happened, I would feel a lot better about the future...
The last time we had a qualified president might have been Ford, maybe Bush Sr. (And he was gutless)
Palin was more qualified than Obama.
Uh, the American public disgrees with you.
Facts are stubborn things. An Objective comparison of their employment history will demonstrate she has more administrative and executive experience than Barack.
Uh, the American public has been wrong before...(see James Earl Carter)
Fact: Obama won, Palin lost.
Yeah, so he's told us a few times.
That doesn't make him more qualified.
hmm. did palin and obama run for the same thing? i must have a bad memory.
Fact: Palin didn't have anything to do with McCains loss.
Unless McCain pulls off a stunning comeback, history will note the final two weeks of September as the decisive and defining moment of this campaign. On September 14, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll showed McCain up by three points. Then Lehman Brothers collapsed and the Wall Street debacle began to dominate the news. McCain’s lead disappeared almost immediately. By September 26, Obama reached the 50% level of support and was ahead by five percentage points.
The Democratic nominee never let go of that lead. Today is the 40th straight day that Obama’s support has stayed between 50% and 52%. Only once during that entire time did his lead fall below four points, and it occasionally expanded to eight (see trends).
For the most part. The Left does come up with ideas in many cases though, as crappy as they are.
I know alot of Lefties are re ed too. I've slammed Obama on here, and I've slammed Righties. I am barely partisan.
Fact: Palin didn't help McCain at all.
So what are the qualifications to be president? Don't give me your opinion I want to know what the cons ution says about qualifications for being President.
Well, your question makes sense in 1789 but, in 2009 when we are picking our EXECUTIVE in a popularity contest -- barely constrained by the original electoral system envisioned by the framers -- it's a silly question.
But, to answer your question, Palin and Obama are equally qualified, according to the Cons ution.
