I do not understand how people can say "we are getting out of the recession soon" when we've barely begun to see the actual effects of the government actions used...

I'd settle for another 8 years of the guy if we could have that economy back. The current regime is adding fuel to an already out of control fire.

Ever stop to think maybe he wants things out of control. And then
he fix everything, his way. Scary thought, isn't it.

Things are getting worse but not as fast. That's optimism, huh?

At best, indicators are very mixed.

    Sure bets:

financial sector will kill all serious regulation

health-profit sector will kill public insurance plan

Full recovery is a long way off, and some jobs are NEVER coming back, esp the ones where the employer covers most of health insurance costs.

San Antonio-Austin one of the few early-jobs-recovery regions:

The fewer good (high-paying) jobs there are, the bigger bonuses for the mgmt, who aren't paid to create jobs.

Deepen the economic hole? My 401K balance, as a whole, is up like ~9% this year. Doesn't seem like the hole is getting deeper to me....
Better start spreading your wealth around, it's good for everyone.

It's interesting to note that BEFORE Obama even took office, many analysts were saying, "It's going to get a LOT worse before it gets better."

But now that it's been 130 days, right wingers are expecting the economy to be up already.

I'd settle for another 8 years of the guy if we could have that economy back. The current regime is adding fuel to an already out of control fire.
To extend your analogy, the previous administration(s) walked up to a nuclear power plant, turned all the safeties off, and started a massive fire. There is nothing Obama or any other candidate could have done to stymie the ramifications of the last 20 years (yes, 20, it's Clinton's fault too for starting the de-regulation). We're going to have to deal with this and it's going to suck for a while. Obama isn't making it worse. It was already getting worse before he came in office, and there is NOTHING he can do to right the ship in the short term.
