Nogueira the underdog? I don't see that at all.
He looked so bad in his last fight, i can understand it..

I guess most casual fans wouldn't have known about the staph he had right before the fight. Looking at it that way, it makes more sense.

I really like Demian Maia, one of my favorite fighters ive seen in a while. I am hopnig he can avoid Nate's power and work him over on the ground.

Disagree. I think theyre all exciting in their own way, no fight card is necessary greater than the other, just showcases different things.

    Uggh...I hope this isn't true...
    http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/8/22...-nogueiras-ufc

At the press conference call Nogueira emphasized that he is feeling the best he has in years:

"I'm 33 years old, and I have a lot to do in my career still," Nogueira said. "At least, I've got to fight a couple of more years.

"I know I'm still young and feel healthy. I still feel when I fight I'm very compe ive. ... I'm in the best shape since 2005. I feel very good, and I did not feel like (that) in the last four years."

But rumors are swirling that his camp hasn't gone well and that he has been knocked out repeatedly in sparring sessions, a far cry from the iron-chinned Minotauro of old.

We will find out almost exactly one week from tonight. Personally, I'm hoping for the best Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira we've ever seen, but I just can't convince myself it's very likely.

The other question is this -- even if it is the best Big Nog we've ever seen, could that man beat Randy Couture? Perhaps if they had met ten years ago when Couture's submission defense game was much more limited. But in 2009, it's hard to draw a path to victory for Nogueira. He might be able to outpoint Couture on the feet, but he's never displayed KO power. There's no way he'll dominate the takedowns against Couture and it's highly unlikely he'll be able to sweep Randy from his back. That leaves the old hail mary triangle or arm bar from his back. But it's not 2003 and Randy ain't Mirko Cro Cop

WOW, i'm with you i hope this is not true. He has not looked very good since coming into the UFC. Yeah he has taken plenty of past beatings and come roaring back but obviously it catches up to you. If he loses this fight bad, and it's obvious he is shot, i hope he calls it a career. The UFC should find a place for this legend in the company, elsewhere.. He deserevs it..

Go back to the Herring fight, which he dominated about 14/15 min’s of…but that weak little flip kick that rocked him was NOT that hard. It always bothered me that he was dropped by it, but he fought thru and finished strong the last 2 rds. Typical Nog.

Sylvia rocked him a couple times and won the first 2 rounds…then Nog schooled him on the ground. But still, he was close to being finished.

Then Mir dominated him…knee/staff infection not withstanding…who knows what impact that had on his performance.

I hate to see either guy lose and I definitely don’t want either to take a severe beating, or look terrible. Wish this happened 5 yrs ago…

Couture article...still talking about subbing Nog. Only if he's practically unconscious, instead of pounding him out...

Damn I'm still not sure who to pick in this fight. There are so many factors that can come to play. I have not much information about their recent shape. I could change my mind after the weight-ins.

For Couture octagone is like home but Nog is a best fighter. what makes it intresting is a difference in styles.
    Randy can be too old
    Nog can be to demolished

I don't know, Randy has a better stand-up and he can use that to take Nog down and with his G&P he can win. Not let Nog sweep him, not let Nog use his JJ of his back. All in all it will be of a intresting bout.
