That's about a million dollars lower than many expected. From my quick calculations, the Pistons have less than $2.5M to offer McDyess in the first year.

The cap coming in low is good news for the Spurs as long as Holt is willing to pay a ton of luxury tax dollars this year.
It's also going to require Buss to spend a ton of luxury tax dollars to keep Odom.

The cap dropped less than I thought it might, but what do I know?

I don't believe there's any correlation between the number of owners and the willingness to spend money. If so, why would the Spurs be willing to go over this year, but not in previous years when they also had a pool of owners.

The Spurs are willing to spend in 2009-2010 because the Duncan window is closing. Spend now to win now, or give up.
