One of the highest scouts in the NBA said that Blair is the best offensive rebounder to come into the NBA in the last 10 years and that Blair eats glass. If he comes in and averages 3 offensive rebounds per game, that alone makes him a great pick up. We rarely get offensive boards.
actually I think the low amount of offensive boards is somewhat by design. Its to allow the team to start getting back on defense so they can prevent a fast break and to get the defense set on the other end of the court before the other team can run a play.

But yeah, it would be nice if he does grab a few offensive boards.

Gasol is going to school the out of this 6'8" midget.

He may have been a beast in college, but against the big boys in the NBA he'll be woefully undersized.

you do realize that "the big boys in the NBA" were all rookies once, right? It's not as if Blair is the only guy who's ever come out of college before and it'll be an unprecedented event and nobody knows if he can make the switch. It's been done before. Also, is everyone in the NBA over 6'8" 265 with a 7'2" wingspan? If they all are, then you're right he's "woefully undersized". I will save your quote, nice job.

If only Blair was 3 inches taller, he would have been a top 3 pick and probably an All-Star within a couple of years. I like his game better than Blake Griffin's. He's a beastly player, it's a real shame that he's only 6'8" and he looks more like 6'6.

Still, he'll definitely help the Spurs this year and it was a great draft pick.
When you've got a 7'3 wingspan, I think it's pretty irrelevent whether you are 6'8 or 6'11. In fact, the 6'8 guy has a lower centre of gravity and should find it easier to hold position in the post.

I think he dropped in the draft due to the lack of ACLs, which everyone was uncertain about, not his height. Risk management and "due diligence" sent every team but the Spurs running the other way!

Ever watch Malik Rose, who was 6'6, stop Shaq back in the day? Rose frustrated the crap out of big centres because he used his stregnth and low centre of gravity to keep them out of their favourite areas, and his long arms to dispute the ball. Blair will do the same. See what he did to Habeet, both times they played last season? That was just a taste.

    He's 6'8 with a 7'2 wingspan, weighing in over 260. That's no midget.

BTW, Ben Wallace and Elton Brand and Charles Barkley say hi.

I keep hearing how Blair has freakishly long arms. Does he have the reach of someone 6'9" or 6'10" or maybe taller? anyone?

Blair will be better than Rose. Rose was no better than a marginal role player.

His standing reach is 8'10.5", which is more than Blake Griffin's, who is 6'10" (8'9" standing reach).

I think the thing a lot of people miss when touting Blair's wingspan though is the fact that he can't jump as high as many (most?) of the tall forwards he might be asked to defend. So even though his wingspan makes up for the height deficiency, athletic forwards might still have the ability to shoot over him. Fortunately he's a bull and guys will have a tough time gaining good position against him anywhere near the basket.

Again, why do you even bother posting or replying in these post?
If the lakers front court is that "godly", then what are you worried about then?
This is a spurs board, there's always gonna be some homerism on the forum.

ya, and "that dude" was Hasheem Thabeet, the second over-all pick in this year's draft. I like Blair's chances on the NBA level.

The problem for the Spurs is YOUR WINDOW IS NEXT SEASON.

You don't have time to wait for rookies to develop.

That's the sad reality, you don't need draft picks right now. You need proven talent that can get it done in the playoffs. If I were the Spurs I'd unload Ginobili for Camby or another proven big.
