Yeah, I'm rusty as (and really sore the next day) when I don't work out in a week or two. So I'm pleased with what I saw, although that little hook shot looked ugly, but hey it went in!
You call that hook shot ugly?

Mahinmi seems like a guy who needs expectations placed upon him. Like a supervisor who tells a traffic cop, "You need to write ten tickets a day."

Mahinmi could be told you need to get 10 rebounds and 15 points. We don't care how you do it, just do it. It's now or never.

A sense of urgency might reveal a new player (or demonstrate that Ian may not have it). My guess is that Mahinmi (as opposed to many more self-driven players) might react well to that. He might end up saying, Gee, why didn't you ever tell me that before?
I think you are right or at least make a good point. Ian said I am not worried about getting points. That might be the problem he is not selfish enough. He is not demanding the ball. He is just out there playing and letting the game come to him. Since we don;t have a pointguard that sets people up but is a shoot first guard that is a problem. Doing what you said makes perfect since. He knows what is expected and then goes and gets it done. Maybe after getting into that flow he might do more, but at least he does what you want him to.

Well if I was Mahinmi I would be playing with an urgency. If you look at it there are only 2 more spots left on the active roster. Manu, Timmy, TP, Mason Jr, Jefferson, Hill, Bonner, Finley, McDyess, Blair(He's gonna make the team). That's ten. He needs to show up and stay healthy!
Dude, Mahinmi is under contract for next year and his option is so cheap he will be on the team for 2 years. Mahinmi also hadn't played a game of basketball in about a year. It is absurd that people are declaring a bust after he has been out for a year.

To all Spurs fans: Clam down and give Mahinmi a chance. Is he going to be great? No. Does he have a shot at being a very good rotation player? YES! And we could use one of those, but this year it is not essential as we have Blair, Haislip, and Bonner to be the 3 backup bigs if Mahinmi cannot produce this year. That is good enough.

Judge him by the end of the Summer League..we'll see if he improves from game-to-game, which is what should be expected..I'm not looking at him getting certain numbers by the end of the SL, I'm just expecting to see improvement as he shakes the rust off..

It's not a given that the Spurs will take the "cheap" option year for Ian by the October 31st deadline. Summer League and Training Camp is Ian's big opportunity to convince the Spurs. It's "his time" now.

I think it would be stupid for them not to pick the option. He is only 22, could easily be a rookie. Would they give up on a rookie his first yr.
