Mike Williams height and weight has nothing to do with this discussion. He was still a can't miss college prospect at wide receiver after his sop re year in USC. He was projected as one of the top talents when he tried to enter the draft. He was still considered one of the top talents when he did get into the draft the following year. And, the year he took off, he spent training and conditioning with (I believe it was) Cris Carter or another former NFL player. But, it was well do ented that he kept up with training and conditioning the year he took off. Now, once he got to the NFL, that's a different story. At any rate, there aren't many other examples anyway because first round picks don't sit out a year from football. They don't.

You asked for an explanation as to why something like this would show no brains. Well, I gave you an example of what could go wrong. Would it go the same way if Crabtree actually sat out a year? Who knows? But, why risk it? Why risk something like that when you have a meal ticket right in front of you, just because people around you are telling you stupid or because you have too much of an ego to accept less than the top WR of the draft even though you weren't the top WR taken in the draft.

If this were a legitimate thing he was pondering, then it would be stupid of him. It would show he a lack of brains. It would show he's getting bad advice. Such a tough life for him having to settle for less than $38 million. The horror. He must be cursed to only be insulted with a $30 million contract. How could they?

Dez Bryant is way ing better than Crabtree, you ing sucker.
Ok just because his cousin is telling the media that Crabtree is threatening to do something really stupid doesn't mean that his talent has diminished all of a sudden.

This guy has won the Blitnikoff award every season he's been in college. Not any swinging is better than he is.

    Dex Bryant?

    lol 56-20

so....what happens to the 49ers in this situation? they ended up just sacrificing their pick? screw that they should get a portion of his next paycheck, no matter who he signs with.

this clause should be addressed next year. if you choose not to sign with the team that drafted you, you have to sit out 1-2 years....simple as that.

He is getting low balled by SF..SF is a ty ass team... so he should sit the out.. got to the combine next year.. put up some numbers.. get drated two...

Stop the bitcing and complaining.... At least this shows the guy has brians...

9rs own his rights. He can't go to the combine to work out for anyone.

I hope the 9rs hold firm because caving to his demands would set a huge precedent in all future rookie contract negotiations across the league.

If I were the Niners, I would trade his rights to Oakland for a 1st and whatever else they could take away. Crabtree is a putz. He is an egomaniacal prima donna. Why do WRs act the way they do? If anyone should act this way it should be RBs, who touch the ball more than anyone besides the C or QB, as well as take the most pounding.

    its Dez Bryant.....

and Crabtree played in a WR friendly system......as did a ton of other TT WRs during the Leach years. however, only 1 offensive player has been worth a damn in the NFL and that is Wes Welker. The rest of those Red Raider ass clowns have done nada, nil, nothing. So Crabtree can act all world or whatever, but until he actually shows his stuff in the NFL arena, he is just another in a long list of college studs who think they have what it takes to be NFL studs.

    ya Dez* typo

I agree Crabtree just needs to go to camp and prove himself worthy first, but this is no typical Texas Tech WR. He's the real deal. I've been watching TTU football for years and i go to all the home games. Either way sitting out a whole year could cost him big time but i'd be happy as a Red Raider fan if he came back

haha dez bryant cant even hold crabtree's jock strap, dont get me wrong but seeing them both play live many times i think i can say that
(going to watch tech okstate this year) maby ill change my mind then
dez bryant wouldnt of been the no. 1 at tech

he is good but crabtree was unreal to watch in person, i went to all there practices and there games, he was unreal and how much he made the other recievers around him better

crabtree if he was to be a dumbass and skip this year and re-enter the draft he woudlnt be like mike williams, crabtree has an excellent work ethic, he has a huge ego but he works hard, and should have a successful career in the NFL, he just needs to sign for at least one year to prove yourself

im not on crabtrees nuts, he is just that good

He can work out with anybody he wants.

Do you know who Bo Jackson is?

He was the first selection in the 1986 draft. He didn't sign a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers instead he signed a deal with the Kansas City Royals to play baseball, since he was an underclassman at the time his "rights" automatically went back in to the 1987 draft. Now if Bo Jackson at the time said that he didn't want to play for the Buccaneers instead of saying he wouldn't play football period. I'm sure the next year he would have been selected number 1 again. In fact I'm guessing that if he wanted to he could have dictated what team he wanted to go to. When It all played out Bo Jackson did sign a lucrative contract with the Raiders so that shows that the order of the pick( the seventh round 138th pick) has little to do with the amount of the contract. Its the preserved VALUE a team has place on a prospect.

Brady Quinn used the whole because I was the first QB taken in the draft to get himself a pay bump as a QB.

Folks this isn't about total value of the contract. Because contracts are not guaranteed it behooves any NFL player to juice up his signing bonus. The guaranteed money.

Now process this information. This revelation in your mind a spit back out some garbage.....

Is still don't get the anamosity people have for a person they have never met. " CRABTREE".

What are you people sitting back on your stained couches watching Sports Center and they break with the story. You ponder the situation. It goes in your minds...then..... ...That NIIGGAS thinks he special..

    HIM THAT ...

    CRABTREE

    I don't get it...

too bad asante samuel didnt. might have helped the patriots not face the biggest butt ing in human history.
Actually, the Pats suffered the biggest NFL butt ing in 1985.

The biggest butt ing ever still resides exclusively with the 2004 Yankees.

Didn't say he couldn't reenter the draft. I said he can't officially work out for any NFL club until the next draft occurs without permission from the 49rs, who hold his draft rights until the day of the next draft.

I do know who Bo Jackson is and just because you think he still would have been taken number 1 doesn't make it so. The fact is he went from #1 overall to the 7th round the next year so that's hardly a good example.

Brady Quinn was the 2nd quarterback taken in the 2007 draft.

Link to where I said " CRABTREE".

I get it. He feels en led to more money because he was ranked higher than DHB but you know what, life just ing sucks sometimes. You can whine about it like a or you can play the cards you were dealt.
