Right now Jefferson is the better overall player. Rudy is too one-dimensional. If you were to choose one for your franchise's future, then you would take Rudy because hes younger and has a chance to get alot better, obviously.
It's actually pretty close. Right now, they are about the same in terms of scoring, Jefferson is a better passer, Gay is a better rebounder, Jefferson is a better defender, Gay is a better athlete, Jefferson has more experience, Gay has more potential. Depends what you are looking for.

I think I would not take Gay over Richard Jefferson.

Gay is a smooth scorer, but he's also a shot and ball hog and not much of a defender. He doesn't fit what the team needs.
If we were rebuilding I'd say Gay, but right now we're going for rings and that means building a TEAM to win, not necessarily selecting the more talented player.
