By that logic how will the Mavs do this year? Are they contenders? I mean, the games we played Cleveland we lost 86-97 and 81-101, Mavs lost their two against them 74-102 and 81-100. I don't know what to make of the Mavs. Although it's certainly possible, I'm not absolutely convinced we're better than teams like NOLA, Utah, Denver, Portland. Not saying we'll get the 7th seed, but the gap between those teams and us is so small that injuries/luck/chemistry can be the difference between a 3rd seed or a 6th-7th seed, as was the case last year when 2-6 were separated by 4 games. seems like worst case is 7th, best case is 3rd, likely may be 4-5 seed?
It also isn't out of the question to finish 2nd in the West. After all, we did go 6-3 against the Spurs last year and the Spurs are old and not very good anymore.

lakers and magic should be 1/2. the carter trade might be extremely beneficial to the magic. #3 should both be the spurs and celtics as both teams have some question marks regarding health and additions of new players. cavs should be 4th until proven otherwise.
If Nelson can deliver for the Magic they'll be legit. They'll go as far as he is permitted to take them.
