Julia over Burstyn still makes me mad.
Also, Crash is the worst Best Picture pick in a long time.
I know it's different categories and all, and it doesn't really relate to this topic, but the fact that Three 6 Mafia won an oscar before Martin Scorcese always sticks out in my mind as possibly the ultimate Oscar travesty of all time.

Goodfellas - Best Picture.

So if Crash wasn't the Best Picture of 2005, what was? Brokeback Mountain? Capote? Good Night and Good Luck? Munich?
Good Night and Good Luck is one of the most boring films to have ever been nominated for Best Picture. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was great in Capote. I just don't think the film was as great as his performance. Munich was good but not great. Brokeback Mountain was only nominated because it dealt with two gay guys lying about who they were. If Brokeback Mountain had been about two straight cowboys, it would have never been nominated. Crash was the best picture of 2005. It was in your face and made no apologies about me. Everyone can relate to that movie because racism and prejudice are an everyday thing. Everyone is racist and prejudice on some level whether they want to admit it or not.
The Constant Gardener was the best picture of 2005. Unfortunately it wasn't nominated. Brokeback Mountain would have been a weak BP winner too, but I could have stomached it a lot more easily than the insulting piece of garbage that was Crash.
Crash gets a lot of , but personally i liked it more than the other nominees. I remember walking out of that movie and knowing i just saw a good movie-that's all you can ask for. The nominees that year were bad, i'll have to go look at what else came out that year and im sure i could find better movies than those nominated.
It comes as no suprise that you loved Transformers 2.
Schindler's List was only nominated because it was about some Jews escaping the Nazis. If it was about some Germans it never would've been nominated.
Kramer v. Kramer was only nominated because it was about some couple getting a divorce and the dad having custody. If it was about Kramer from Seinfeld doing battle with his future self over the fate of Kenny Roger's Chicken, it wouldn't have been nominated.
Quiz Show was only nominated because it was about quiz shows.
