Cool that seems like an interesting show. I hope it will come to europe.
I would love to visit that pawnshop I saw an Andy Warhol painting go cheap.
I like how the person pawning an old knife only wants 50 bucks, they say that is all they need, then they bring in an expert that says the knife could be worth 2,500 and then the person with the knife won't take any less than 2,000

I don't get how they can trust a dumbass like chum lee with buying and selling at the pawn shop
he usually has to ask permission from big hoss for any expensive buys
shows entertaining, but if i hear one more person say "Big Hoss" i will stab someone with a fork...wtf, big hoss? shut the F up...
Kinda like that show trick my truck had that one fat simple minded white guy that would bring the comedy to the show.
I think Chumlee is there strictly to be the guinea pig for testing all the old, unstable stuff that could explode on them.
I wonder if it's just a coincidence his name is the same as the dumb character on tennessee tuxedo.

I think chums smarter off camera than on. I'm pretty sure they just play up some things for the cameras to add another dynamic to their show.
I like it and I understand why some people feel the need to take stuff in when they don't know what they have is worth but wouldn't ebay be much better typically?
Thanks again to MH, never heard of the show before but watched it and really liked it. The only complaint I have is that a few episodes showed what the people were hoping to get before they came in, and some of the shows don't. I prefer to know what they are hoping to get before they walk in the door.
The way it works out is you get to see the negotiating but you also know what they are hoping to get, so it's interesting to see how they negotiate.
Pawn shops are a real trip. I am not proud to say I have pawned more stuff than I have purchased but I can tell you some stories that would be worthy of TV.
You can take a 500.00 dollar Johnny Unitas rookie card in mint condition and only get 10.00 dollars and at the same time find a 2,500.00 dollar laptop for 99.00 dollars.
It happened to me back in 2007 pawn shop off fredericksburg road. I like when the pawnshop tells you they won't take the computer you brought in because it's registered in someone else's name and you go home and change the name and walk back in the pawnshop and pawn it.
For some reason they think because the PC has a certain persons name when you right click my computer and go to properties that that computer will only work for that person.
Sometimes I wonder who is really running the show at those pawnshops.
You go in one day and get 50.00 dollars for a paint sprayer, take it out a week later then take it back the following week and get 200.00 dollars for the same sprayer that the other pawnshop employee said was only worth 50.00 dollars.
Not that I condone this type of activity but I have seen pawnshops offer you 20.00 dollars for a NFL Peyton Manning Jersey and the person goes outside and signs the Jersey with Peyton Manning's autograph walk back in the pawn shop an hour later and gets 100.00 for the same Jersey.
I just can't watch this show anymore. That head looking is too annoying. I just can't understand why some of these people don't respond to the guy when he says "I can't pay that much for it" by giving him the middle finger and saying "well someone else can"
Obviously I don't mean the people just going in there with something they found in the attic looking to make a few bucks. But I see so many with heirlooms or something with a LOT of value acting like that place is their only option. They even bring an expert saying how much it's worth. If that expert says that sword or that bike or whatever is worth $10000, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SETTLE FOR $2500 JUST CAUSE YOU'RE ON A TV SHOW!
We scream at them all the time....ever tried eBay at least you dumbasses???? You can put a reserve!!! Lol
So many people just let themselves get robbed on that show.
No . Remember this pic he'd only pay $5,000 for?
Bas s were asking $18,000 for it when I saw it in the store.
It blows me away when people give him 60-70% discounts on the stuff they sell. I remember seeing Rick buy a grenade or something from another guy who ran a pawn shop, and Rick had no problem buying with a 15% profit margin when he was dealing with someone who knew how to negotiate.
You guys do know this is scripted right?
I was going to post something similar.
This stuff isn't "reality" it's "scripted reality" which is the new trend with tv shows now. Present something that looks and feels like reality but is planned out and scripted.
It's amazing to me when I hear people talk about these scripted reality shows as if they're not scripted and in fact pure reality. It boggles the out of my mind.
As for this pawn shop show, lol at people thinking the bald fat guy knows everything there is to know about anything and everything that gets brought into his shop.
Yeah, he's a human encyclopedia. He should be on Jeopardy. lol
That's without a doubt true; they kick everyone out when they're getting ready to film.
Is it scripted though? Hardcore pawn is 100% bull but I didn't think pawn stars was.
Aren't they all?
That doesn't mean I don't like it.
I like to bet on which one is going to use the money to go back to the casinos and gamble. This should be something you can bet on in Vegas.
