No self respecting Spurs fan would ever want to lose a game.
I am pretty sure Pop tanked the 96-97 season,...and he was smart to do so because San Antonio probably would not have a franchise now if he hadn't.
No self respecting Spurs fan would ever want to lose a game.
If that's what you want then why did you pick option 3?
Whottt, we had a 1 in 5 chance of winning the lottery....that is not good odds....Pop did not tank the season....we were as good as we could possibly be, given the talent he had to work with.
see above post
Oh please...the game is meaningless to us...
How come Pop didn't put Duncan in against Utah?
How come he sat there and lost the AS game?
Don't tell me Pop puts winning every game at the top of his list...he doesn't and he comes right out in the media and says so...
You want me to find a quote by him saying that being healthy in the post season is more important than the #1 seed?
This is the same line of logic...
The goal of the Spurs is to win a le and anything that gives them an advantage in doing so would be the wise thing to do and would be something I would hope they would do.
The goal of the Spurs is to eliminate teams that stand in their way of winning a le...
If you feel Minny is the bigger threat, then eliminating them is the honorable thing to do...no matter how you do it.
He was bringing in Tim slowly.
By 82nd game, Tim will be ready to play 35 mins.
I want Minn to make it, but I want Spurs to win more than that.
If SA does rest players in 82nd game and Minn makes playoffs, then it would not be total injustice to Memphis, because they had a chance to clinch by winning one of last 5 games and they lost every one...it would be their fault.
[IMG][/IMG] i Want SA to win all there games,
NZ KICK ASS![]()
So then he wasn't doing everything in his power to win that game...
Which means you can shelve the Vince Lombardi crap...
Either he makes winning every game a priority or he doesn't...
And believe me...when he sat Duncan out the last 4 seconds of the Utah game...winning that game wasn't his top priority...he wasn't doing everything in his power to win it...
If Pop rests the starters an abnormally high amount in the final game of the season...I expect a full condemnation of his actions from you.
I still haven't decided, but I have a feeling that TimVP has correctly predicted what the Spurs are going to try and do...and I don't think the Mavs will take it easy in their final game...they have a vested interest in who the Suns play also.
We don't owe Memphis or Minnesota JACK!
IF they want to make the playoffs it's their job to get themselves in...if they leave another team in control of their destiny it's their own damn fault...as are the consequences...a team has to act in it's own self interest because it's goal is to be the last team standing.
The Spurs job is to win a le...it's not our job to be fair to them...
Having Duncan, Ginobili and Parker on the same team isn't fair to them...
I vote for win your games.
the Grizzlies, the Wolves.
Could care less about either 1, both will be first round and out anyway.
Read my post again, numbnuts.
I said it would NOT be a injustice.
Win all the games from now till the trophy is ours.
Still, bottom line is we don't know what the situation will be Wednesday when we face the T-Pups.
Could be, they are out of the playoffs already, and they rest all their starters.
If we were locked in 2nd, and they were already out, then it's not going to be a very interesting game.
Even though I voted opt. 3 (because I still have hope for a Number 1 seed), I wouldn't mind seeing the T-wolves make the Playoffs.
They'd put up a better fight against the Suns, and if they make it to the WCF with the Spurs, it'd be great to see Tim battle KG!
But that's the basketball fan talking. The Spurs fan in me wants the T-Wolves out, because we swept our last 3 games.
(am I making any sense here?!?)
I think we we'll probably lose to Memphis on the road anyway if we're going to continue easing in Duncan, so throwing the last two looks pretty likely.
As long as the Spurs are playing well, they aren't going to give a about pushing it. 1-2 to finish gives the added bonus of starting the playoffs under the radar, written off by half the sportswriters who only catch the SportsCenter highlights of KG dunking on Massenburg.
CIA.
