Oh, who do they hire during the summer to work the rides????

    Interesting....

And, while they hire these 19 year olds to RUN the rides, you think they just "show up" and the rides are done with there daily inspection, daily greasing, and everything?
Actually, that's exactly what happens... I operated a Roller Coaster for 3 years as a teenager.

Once again, I think I might know somewhat what Im talkin bout here folks.
I guess that's what you get for thinking.

They have actual engineers there each moring before the parks open to check for potential problems.....also many of those rides have computer sensors in them into a main control room on the premises.....those kids just buckle you in and turn it loose.....if those teenie boppers were the ones checking it I can assure you there would be a heck of alot more accidents than the very low incidents you hear about now....I also think that the parks are scrutinized by government agencies.

BTW....most park accidents are cause by the general public not following the simple rules like:
Don't stand up during the ride.
    No horesplay.
Keeping your hands in the car.

Are going to blame the park if some moron stands up on a coaster 200' up at 70 mph and gets blown out and falls to there demise?

I'm curious how one would inspect every inch of track of a coaster like Thunder Dolphin. Who does their inspections? Spider Man?

The tallest rollarcoaster is in Vegas on top of the Stratoshere.

You are 1100 ft high.... having your balls hide inside when you look down to commonplace.

Here is view from it at night.

The Hulk in Orlando was rated the 2nd best in the nation. It is at Islands of Adventure. You’re launched from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat.

Awesome. Here is link to experience it:

I own amusement rides, your not telling me anything I dont know about customer stupidity.

Had 1 customer sue us, because she slipped on water, from them watering the plants one morning, but the water was in front of our ride.

Believe me, we know about customer stupidity.

...guess I am going to have to prove you wrong. I have really liked roller coasters for more than 5 years and I do know a lot about them. Even tho the Stratosphere Tower is very tall ( it is 1,149 feet tall, but the coaster is built on the 909 foot level)that doesn't make the "High Roller"- the name of the coaster a top of the Stratosphere Tower that high. Yes It will make it feel like you are 909 feet up in the air, which is true but that doesn't make High Roller that tall. I don't have the exact numbers on how tall the coaster is, all I know is that It is not as tall as TTD and Kingda Ka. The coaster is crap anyways. Its rough. The current tallest coaster right now that is operating is Top Thrill Dragster (420 feet) at Cedar Point in Ohio, like I have said before. Once Kingda Ka (456 feet - i got the numbers confused the first time I think) is finished and is open It will be the tallest.

    http://rcdb.com/recordholders.htm?statistic=1

There is a list of the top 10 tallest coasters in the world.

Pictures of High Roller for your pleasure, enjoy.

If you own amusement rides then I have a problem with your arguments of inspector's ages.

    1) If you actually do own rides then you should already know this and it would never been discussed.

    2) You said what you did to get a rise out of people.

    3) If you really believe this....what rides do you own so I can keep away from them....if you actually have no qualified inspectors and someone does get hurt on one of your rides you would be liable in a big way for negligence.

As for slipping on the water....that is like the lady suing McDonald's because her HOT COFFEE was too hot.

Correct. I think it is called. ACE-American Coaster Enthusiasts

"Welcome to the official site of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, the world's largest club of amusement ride enthusiasts. ACE was founded in 1978 as a not-for profit, all volunteer club to foster and promote the conservation, appreciation, knowledge and enjoyment of the art of the classic wooden roller coaster and the contemporary steel coaster.

Our club has grown from a handful of members to over 8,000 members representing all 50 states, DC, and 12 countries. We publish a bimonthly newsletter and a quarterly magazine for our members. We also sponsor several events at parks each year. If you love the thrill of the twists, turns, drops, and loops of a roller coaster, this club (and this site) is for you!"

    Quote from their site. http://www.aceonline.org/

No kidding! Years ago, my sister and I went on Montezooma's Revenge at Knott's Berry Farm. We thought we were gonna die!

You'll think the gods have gone crazy when you blast from 0 to 55 in just 3 seconds through a giant, seven-story loops, once forward, then again backwards.

Actually, as an engineer that has been responsible for the design and construction of several amusement rides, I can tell you that some of the maintenace departments are top notch, and some are just a rag-tag collection of guys they picked up off the street. And you are dealing with some of the stupidest, laziest people in the world when it comes to some park visitors and personell.

Basically, we have to design the things so idiot- and neglect-proof that nothing serious will occur. Occasionally, you will hear of people getting "stuck" in a roller coaster, but in fact that is due to safety "gates" that stop the coaster if something could even possibly be wrong.

From what I have seen dealing with Fiesta Texas, they are one of the better Six Flags Parks as far as maintenance crews are concerned. They have one ride that has a lot of downtime at other parks (not to be disclosed), that they have a better record on. A lot of the medium-sized rides have multiple installations worldwide, to spread out development costs. Six Flags does have corporate guidelines on the design of new rides that go in their parks.

The condition of the ride says a lot about its maintenance. If it is in good shape, odds are they keep a tight ship.
