My wife couldn't stop me from getting angry, but my daughters smile sure can. I go from angry and about to punch holes in my wall, to disappointed.
I don't get as mad as I used to, last year was kind of a wake-up call..
Bill Simmons has a great chapter in his book where he talks about being a Celtics fan in the 80's at the end of their dominance, and I'll tell you it sounds EXACTLY like what we're going through right now, especially the Bird/Duncan comparison..
Not sure if I'll get to watch the game tonight, might have to go to a party with my girl's friends..yes, it sounds really exciting..

sigh... i feel you...my mood just go downhill from watching a bad spurs game to an eventual spurs loss... but i think bonner is gonna start tho...

well steven go do your thing because they are starting tonight... again
+1.
Yeah, I am going to stop putting so much emotions into these games. I guess because I was really into the Spurs from 2002-2005, then I kind of took a break from 2006-2008. (Yeah, I wasn't even watching basketball during the Spurs 07 Championship Run).
I guess because I am really getting into the Spurs again for a full Season, I put too much emotion into it. I am going to stop doing that. I'm going to stop standing up when watching the games. I am just going to sit back with a soda, relax and watch the games. I am not going to curse when we give up a few points, and when we score, I'm not doing anything more than a little smile.
No more ruined nights. I'm just going to relax.![]()
Spurs better be more fired up about this game than me if not we have a problem.
When is this getting started? Our first road win, coming up.
Please, Pop, drop Bonner and start Dice. PLEASE?
It's almost as if Pop doesn't have confidence in this team going back to what worked - defence - so he's sticking with what didn't work last season out of fear. Forget your fear, Pop, and trust in Dice. He won't let you down.
I would like to see Mason start instead of Finley. Make it happen Pop.
Until Dice even gives a about games, no way. At least Bonner shows more hustle.
Towards the end of last year I stopped investing as much and got used to disappointment. After this off season I was fully invested again, and the Bulls and Jazz games tore me up.
I wish we could bring Splitter over this year (or we could pull off another steal of a trade), I'd really like to see another 7 footer next to Duncan. Failing that, I don't know. I get sick of all the Bonner hate, but even I'm starting to wonder how much our lack of a real center is to blame for our problems.
The thing I hated most about our two losses is how much the other team wanted to play and win vs. our guys trying to keep up. If our vets aren't energetic or hungry I wish Pop would give Hairston and Mahinmi one or two chances; tell them 'your talent level isn't high enough yet, you'll have to compensate with energy if you don't want to sit in street clothes the rest of the year.' Please Pop.
Losing is one thing, but I absolutely hate watching games like the ones we had vs. the Bulls and Jazz where we aren't as hungry to win as the other team, we're just there. My remote control can't take any more of those, I've flung it into the wall too many times already.
I'm trying not to get too depressed because the Spurs are always slow-starting, but it sucks watching the other top-tier teams compete from day one and wondering how the heck we're going to keep up with them.
How the would we know? Dice hasn't had any kind of chance to gel with Tim. If you saw him play in Detroit you wouldn't say he doesn't give a . He's obviously confused by the way he's being used.
For mine, start Dice, give him 30mins a game - SHOW SOME FAITH IN HIM - and let him grow into the team.
Bonner's "hustle" amounts to a big pile of nothing.
Although I agree that the Spurs should give him some minutes, he clearly is not ready for 30 minutes a game. 25 would be ideal. Blair needs some minutes too.
+1 Mason was tearing it up last year. Now he's hardly playing and shooting even less. Please start Mason. And try playing Hairston, Ian and Haislip just for the of it one of these nights.
Both Bonner and Finley played 17 mins last night, that's a good thing.
Hopefully, Pop keeps that up but the team has to put in some effort. I don't mind if the team loses as long as they put in some effort and hustle. With all the talent in the world, hustle is still important. See Houston Rockets.
I don't care if the Spurs lose tonight. It's only the 5th game. I'd just like to see some actual effort and hustle from the team as a whole. I'd like to see contested shots on defense.
"The Every Thing" Ryan Anderson got injured.
Crap, breakout year stopped by injury.
If Bonner was injured, Spurs fans would applaud or what?
I wouldn't applaud. We would not be able to trade him. In other news, none of LeBron's points today came from the paint. They are all outside shots. Ok, screw that, fast break dunk made.
I want to tell CAVS one thing: when you are leading by 20, never try to draw blocking fouls.
Jared Jeffries was damn good. Drawing charges and playing good team defense.

Jeff McDonald:
From pre-game .... Pop admits he's catching the Jazz and Blazers both at a bad time, but says: "“That doesn’t take away from the fact that we’re not playing physically enough at both ends of the court. We’re obviously not rebounding very well. For a team that usually leads the league in defensive rebounding, we looked like the worst in the league against Chicago and Utah. So that’s really the emphasis. Shore up the defense. Continue to work on the boards. That’s both an individual and a team thing.”
