I knew a guy from Maine that called rubber bands "elastics" and car brakes "binders".
Can you hand me an elastic for the newspaper?
I had to slam on the binders to stop my car.

Weird.
USER,
The only time ive heard the term binders, is at indy car races, drivers getting on the binders behind another guy.
That is weird.
That's kind of the norm around here. I didn't know what a 'rubber band' was until I went away to college. They've always been elastics to me.
I dunno about 'binders' though.
I know a lot of people from away don't understand the term 'dooryard.' Does anyone use that?
