Phoenix never gave a crap enough about D to win a le. Too bad; Stoudemire should have been an elite defender with his size, agility, and athleticism.

I remember when Bryan Colangelo became GM of the Phoenix Suns. We were making jokes that the Suns were up for GM of the year because they gave away Clifford Robinson to the Pistons (50-32, 18-game improvement from the previous season) for Jud Buechler and John Wallace and they traded Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk to the Celtics (49-33, Conference Finalist). It turns out even as they were winning they were building other teams.
Um...the Suns got the last laugh on that one. They traded Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk for Joe Johnson. Think the Celtics dont want THAT one back?
You might be able to get a handicap pass for your car if you can convince someone that you seriously believe trading Tony Delk and Rodney Rodgers for Joe Johnson was bad for the Suns.
ing priceless.4. They gave Diaw a five-year $45 million dollar extension that summer, which means the Diaw/Banks combo now makes as much money every year as Joe Johnson. Awesome.
They still don't. It took 6 years to learn the value of depth.
right and right.
but....
BC was also the guy, who persuaded Nash to come back to the Suns.
(taking quite some criticism for "overpaying" for Nash, a move that quickly turned into the "best bargain" category). he was the one who didn't pass on Amare and the one who didn't pass on Marion. and the one who turned Tony Delk into Joe Johnson.
so, the heavily praised Nash-Amare-Marion-Johnson core doesn't materialize without BC making some really great moves.
ok, he ed it up, likely the shock of being outrun and outscored by the Spurs in the CF 2005.
but remember, 2005 the move of trading JJ for Diaw plus 2 1st rounders was seen as quite smart. (and most thought Atlanta overpayed for JJ)
Simmons is great, but he also has a tendency to only tell half of a story, if the other half fits better with his theories.
btw. what if CD stayed with the Suns 2006? I'm pretty sure he wouldn't produce 1/10th of the head-shaking moves Kerr did.
Joe Johnson would be a steal, if they didn't let him walk. You know, until they did this I was actually a fan of this team? It let the Pistons win their division and gave the Celtics the depth to make the Conference Finals while the Suns were preparing the 8th pick for Amare.
dumbass article. they would have never won a ring with the run and gun .no matter what the players were

That team scared me in 2004-05. I remember watching them shred the Pistons in Phoenix in the first quarter. We couldn't get out on their shooters and stop Nash's penetration. They should've stuck with Johnson and Richardson on the wings.
The book is boring as . The only saving grace is that it covers the Celtics and their main rivals a lot - the downside is that I already knew most of the stories. Other than that it's like reading thousands and thousands of his articles in succession.
