I don't think a 1390 is high by today's standards...I don't really know what areas they had back then or how many sections of the test there were but I know nowadays it goes up to 2400, so a 1390 is around average or slightly below.
The people mookie is referencing are people who were on the 1600 scale. And yes, it was kind of funny.. I think it was more like... 50% of the people posted claimed they were in the 1500s. It's the same with the IQ threads...70% of the posters claim somewhere in the genius range.

Well back, in the day, the score was out of 1600. So, I think that's what most people went by.

Oh... and I think there are a lot of smart people in the forum, some educated and some not. As for the most educated, I can probably name a handful of people that have four or more degrees.

Having a degree framed in your office doesn't mean if you still think the earth is 4 Billion years old and that man evolved from a fish.

And these so-called educated people you speak of are the first ones to want coach Pop fired and Tony Parker traded with every Spurs loss?
That is wisdom at its finest!

Take Tpark for example he claims to have a Masters degree and yet he has the attention span of a five year old and a mouth like a 4 dollar hooker.

Genius IQ supposedly starts at 140, I've scored in the 140's on the one's I've taken, but I really don't think there's such a test to accurately determine who's a genius. I'm just a pretty smart guy, somewhere above most but no where near a rocket scientist. Even Cal 3 gives me a headache

the scale is still out of 1600 (verbal + math) but there is an extra essay worth 800 that colleges dont even look at.

when i applied to UT, it listed my SAT as out of 1600 (verbal + math) and completely negated the essay, so its still pratically the same format.

btw the standardized tests dont mean . you can score 70 percentile on the ACT and turn around and score 90 percentile on the SAT. one test calls you a dumbass and the other one a genius.

I dont have any degree's at all, although Im sure if I wanted to waste the money I could get one. the fact that I'm working in one of 5 positions available in an IT department at Southwest research Ins ute without one (a degree) should give somewhat of an idea of how smart I am....

that being said, book smarts are useless in the real world. I'd rather pride myself on my "street smarts" than my "book smarts". I remember when "who wants to be a millionare" first came out, they had a top 5 MENSA guy on the show.... he didnt make it past the 4th or 5th question.... you know.... the common sense one's.

Learned knowledge, aka book smarts, is no indicator of intelligence or ability
A doctorate of physics/Columbia Law degree/Johns Hopkins M.D. might be a slight indicator of one's ap ude.

I'd say Extra Stout takes the cake. There are several others that seem to know what they are talking about most of the time. I think the illusion of intelligence in a forum is maintained by not opening your mouth about things you don't know about. Do that, and you'll seem pretty smart. That is unless you don't know about anything in which case you won't be doing much posting at all

That's exactly where colleges suck major asses. Sincerely you have nothing to brag about but arrogance and narcissism. It's solidly estimated that the top 30 colleges are majorly occupied by immigrants/foreigners, hence you would be stupid if you considered smart those dumbasses who cannot even pronounce a word correctly with their anus, not to mention making any sound with dumb mouths.
did you just label "foreigners" in college dumbasses because they don't speak english perfectly?

Yeah, you're the posterchild for knowledge and intelligence...
