Spurs center-forward Matt Bonner suffered a broken bone on his right hand in the first quarter of Saturday's game against the Pacers at AT&T Center.
It appeared he broke the fourth metacarpal -- the bone in the meat of the hand leading to the ring finger -- while attempting to block a shot by Indiana's Tyler Hansbrough late in the first quarter. He remained in the game after the injury, and actually made an 18-foot jumper after suffering the injury.
Bonner is to be re-examined on Monday, after which a timetable for his return will be determined.

terrible news for the nba.
You know it![]()
dyess better start playing it up fuk a slow start you better start fukin playing
Matt was playing well but was always soft against the top tier teams. It sucks he's injured, but right now I'd rather see the other players get more burn.
Pop's plan has been to almost completely limit Theo's minutes. My guess is Blair gets more minutes, not someone from the end of the bench, as well as more small ball.
Hopefully not.
Matt's going to show that Kobe's not the only one who can play with a broken finger..
What a bunch of flip flops. First, Fans in the forum wanted bonner off the court. Now, its terrible news for the nba. Make up your minds. I thought the majority of you would be pleased.
happens![]()
Damn. McDyess and Blair better step it up.
Probably broke it with the ball hitting the ring finger straight on, on a defensive deflection.
Not bad news at all except for Bonner. Spurs are not going far with Bonner. Blair needs more minutes.
Grrrrrrrrrrr, thats not what I want to see. Matt was playing well as of late too off the bench as many said, he found his role and now this happens. I hope someone steps up big and gets the best out of the mins, Blair? I hope so.
Im with most of the mother er up here. Matty was playing well and stretches the floor but great chance for the other spurs bigs to play more minutes. I see a big winnig streak coming up thanks to this ingure. But Matt will come back to help us out in a couple of weeks.
Spurs record in the last 2 seasons(including the series vs. Dallas)..
when Bonner makes at least three 3-point shots in a game: 21-4 for an .840 winning %..
when Bonner makes two 3-point shots or less in a game: 48-38 for a .558 winning %..
hate him or love him, he does have a positive impact for this team, especially now since he's a bench player..nothing good can come out of this..best-case is Ian comes in and shows something, but that's unrealistic..
if Haislip is activated over Ian, there's not even any potential good that could come out..based on what I saw in preseason, Haislip is one of the worst players I've ever seen..hopefully it was just jitters, but I'm not even really basing my judgment on his shooting..
Every time Bonner has a decent season going, he severely injures something.
Get well, Bonnnnnnnnnnner!
I wonder if Ian will get some PT because of this.
Hurt it playing D? Either you guys are joking or didn't see the game. He hurt it on an and-1 play, then somebody gave him 5 (didn't see the jersey #) and then he grabbed his hand.. so perhaps friendly fire. Playing D...![]()
iggypop was being sarcastic. What a bunch of flip flops. First, Fans in the forum wanted bonner off the court. Now, its terrible news for the nba.
Get well Matt.
Don't let the "eye of the tiger" go away during your healing.
that's only because he's so bad of a defensive player that, if he's not contributing a lot on the offensive end, he's really hurting the team.
so, essentially, these numbers don't really back up his cause. the spurs would be better off limiting his minutes even more, to situations where they're willing to give up points.
