Cavs small forward LeBron James won’t be in the dunk contest over All-Star weekend, much to the disappointment of some former players. Last year, James had said he’d participate in the event.

On TNT’s "Inside the NBA," Kenny Smith noted that Michael Jordan competed in both the dunk contest and 3-point shootout, and that Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird had “the sense that the game is bigger than them.”

Charles Barkley added, “Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins didn’t have to be in the slam dunk contest but they understood they were trying to push the game.”

Mandingo James never intended on embarrassing himself on a national stage like this. The guy was schooled by a warehouse worker in horse. He got dunked on by a some high school kid, then ordered Nike to confiscate the tapes. LeBron should just wear a king's crown and throw down some sick dunk that has his head way above the rim. Then he will win the le. The reason why he will not do it is because Nate Robinson, on the following year, would call out LeBron with the crown and teabag him, winning the dunk contest.
