Spurs would lose 4-1 for sure. And thats with Manu palying at a high level.
ok I thought about this long and hard. I agree with the OP.
It would be a one shot, one in a million miracles may happen kind of series. Then Spurs can have an early summer to refuel and reload for next season.
That will also allow Parker and Manu to be ready for the World's tournament for their respective countries.
Jefferson can just hitch a ride in the Lakers plane after game 4 and spend the summer as he always does, rooming with Luke.
Win/Win situation for everyone IMO.
Spurs would lose 4-1 for sure. And thats with Manu palying at a high level.
The odds of winning the Draft Lottery is better than the odds of somehow beating the Lakers in a series..way better..our only chance of beating the Lakers would be if their MVP Pau Gasol blows out his knee and then Odom gets eaten by his wife..then we might have a chance..
Although the possibilites of Artest overdosing on Jim Bean and Kobe being arrested for raping the hotel maid are more likely.
Rookies should have to make 100 posts before they can start threads
Seriously, on what planet is an 8 seed getting thrashed a great idea?
no, if you're going to be there then may as well take your chances in the lotto.
LOL, your wrong man![]()
In other words the Spurs should take on the role of the spoiler. Sorry but the only spoiling they'll be doing is my appe e after I see them lose to the Lakers and miss out on a lottery pick.
Even if the Lakers are somehow without Gasol and Odom, the Jackson vs Pop match-up rules the series in their favor.
Right now I believe we will not have HCA in the first round so If we are going to be in the playoffs then I like finish 8th.To be in the playoffs if we cant win doesnt have sense for me so there is no reason to fight in the first round with mid-level teams if we cant beat the Lakers.
If there was not a team a lot better than the others obviously i like to be in the higher position we can but I'm pretty sure the Lakers will be in the West Finals so we will have to face them anyway if we want to win so there is no reason to wait
Face them and let's see what happens. At least you will have a better position in the NBA draft being 8th (i guess top20 )....
.....or forget the playoffs, tank the season and go to the lottery
Ah, the simulator crew gets out foxed again.the Jackson vs Pop match-up rules the series in their favor.
If the Spurs turn the season around it's likely that they're going to do it in the next couple of games and go on a hot streak into the playoffs, which means they won't face the Lakers.
Hey, if we get the 7th seed with a lot of healthy players in our team, our core guys healthy, I think we're a tough team to beat. One of the best 7th seeds in recent memory.
I agree completely.
Well that already happened in 2001
Amen!
What the point in having an "early out" again in the first round? That would merely be a "stay of execution" that delays the ultimate end.
There is no reward for an early playoff out. And there's certainly no reward for the mediocrity.
It's far better to have the highest draft pick they can muster.
If Goliath's baby sista beats the out of s at will, what makes you think we can beat Goliath? That is like saying I can't beach 100 lbs, set me up with 500 lbs. Man, I take a double shot of what you drinking,,,![]()
I don't condone rooting against your own team in hopes that something good will happen, but the Spurs will most likely get ousted in the first round IF they make the Playoffs. The Spurs WILL lose 30+ games and with teams like New Orleans, Houston and Memphis just hanging around, a playoff spot will be difficult to come by.
I'd rather the Spurs have a lottery pick and avoid being embarassed by the Nuggets or Lakers. You re-group/rest during a long offseason (especially Pop), make a solid selection in the draft, bring over Splitter (maybe Nando de Colo as well) and focus on re-signing Manu.
Folks, welcome to the Land of Mediocrity. Our gracious hosts have been expecting us for several years now. Let;s hope that our stay is a very short one.
mutombo and baron davis
I'm for this idea. Bring it.. ill take the risk.
While all 3 of those teams were the #8 seed, the first two (Denver and New York) did it back when the 1st round was a best of 5 series.
The only #8 seed team to upset a #1 seeded team in a 7 game series (a lot tougher task than a 5 game series where you can steal 1 of the 1st 2 games on the road then hold serve at home) is Golden State.
I think denver will beat out the lakers this year
I think spurs have beater shot at beating them then the lakers
It's best for them to finish 8th because frankly that would be the best they can do right now. We'll be lucky if they make the playoffs.
