Would a weak-side shot blocker help us? No doubt. Is it our most pressing need? No. We need a wing defensive stopper sooo bad on this team.
the team lacks a vocal leader/floor leader/emotional leader. i've been saying it for a long time this season. it went out the door when Bruce was traded. if you remember it wasn't Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili that brought everyone together to huddle up when the team was in a lull for a stretch of the game, it was Bruce. you can't win a championship without that kind of player. that's why i've lost complete faith in this team. the guys that we have are who they are, they aren't going to change, or turn into that guy. Bruce was a natural born leader, and without him, or somebody that can fill his shoes in that regard, this Spurs team will continue to be soft.
that said, i think we should sign Bruce to a 10 day contract and see what he can do because that's the only shot at winning a championship this team can has.

The Pop/Duncan Spurs have never been intense, demonstrative, screaming, and all that "urban" bull , but they do step it up in the playoffs.
They're so far down this year, stepping it up won't get them out of the first round. They won't make the playoffs by their own efforts, only because 1 or 2 teams in 9th,10th place are even worse.
Every heard of Avery Johnson? Ever heard of Bruce Bowen?
The Spurs have the TALENT to take down the Lakers this year. Frankly it just looks like no one is having fun out there.
The Spurs need more fire. WOW, I haven't heard that one before.
"that is a forking foul!"
LOL @ Spurs having the talent to take down the Lakers, but they're missing fire..
Some of you are really overvaluing this and ignoring the actual BASKETBALL part of the sport..as I said, the Celtics are struggling despite having the most vocal leader in the NBA..the Magic don't have a "leader" or anything like that and they made the Finals last year and are on pace to have another great season..the Lakers don't have anybody like that, especially not Kobe, since the Lakers are often accused of being lackadaisical and not motivated enough, and Kobe's supporting cast is often accused of just standing around and watching him while not playing as hard as they could..
Tim Duncan is fine the way he is. He doesn't need to be demonstrative because his game speaks for itself. All those chest pounding fist pumping guys like KG and KMart are my least favorite players. Tim will ocassionally show emotion, but he picks and chooses his moments. It doesn't mean anything if you do it all the time. You just look like a jackass.
All his current and former teammates have stated how inspirational he is and they appreciate his demeanor and humor. If these losers need some pseudo tough guy gangsta bull to get up for a game, then they are on the wrong team.
Meh I hate this post.
Celtics are struggling because KG/Pierce are still injured, not because of lack of leadership
Magic have a guy named Jameer Nelson who is one of the best leaders in the NBA, and during last season's le run Dwight Howard was inspiring his teammates by going '01 Shaq on the Eastern Conference in the playoffs.
Lakers have the most intense man in the NBA in Kobe. How can you say they're lackadaisical? Really...
Anyways, about tonight's game, the Spurs turned in arguably their best game all season, even more impressive than the Nuggets win. It reinforces both my points: this team was lacking fire and also that they have the talent to beat any team in this league on any given night when they're playing with passion. I loved the fire I saw from Manu/RJ tonight, I thought they played their ass off, and it really rubbed off on their teammates you could really tell. Our defense really fed off of their aggressiveness on the offensive end, and Manu had one of the most incredible blocks I've ever seen.
And let's give Bogans some credit. He SHUT DOWN Durant in the 4th quarter tonight, and he did alot of it one on one. They only trapped Durant on a few occasions, but Bogans was fighting through screens and busting his ass to deny KD the ball. Let's applaud his effort.
Obviously Manu carried us tonight, but RJ and Bogans were awesome in the 4th tonight also.
Celtics are struggling even when their team is healthy..they're old and broken, like the Spurs..my point is that Garnett's leadership hasn't done anything for them this season..they've blown more leads than any team in the NBA, which shouldn't happen according to your logic..they're often accused of having no energy and looking lifeless this season..
LOL Jameer Nelson?!? LOL..I follow the Magic my friend, Jameer Nelson isn't a leader in any way..half of their fans criticize him after every game..one of the best leaders in the NBA?! LOL..what the ?!..he wasn't even on the team for their run last year too LOL..Dwight is goofy and laid back, he's often criticized for not being angry and vocal..
Lakers are ALWAYS accused of being unmotivated and not coming out with energy for games..did you not see their series vs. Houston last year?..
The Spurs beat an OKC team @ home on a back to back by a few possessions and that tells you we can beat anybody? LOL..
You also proved my point by saying that the aggressiveness of some players and Manu's block sparked the Spurs..as I said, making plays sparks teams, not players being "leaders"..
