Chile is not Haiti.
Their buildings are not made of shacks and scrap metal tin huts. They actually have a working government (Female President), they actually have almost everything the United States has when it comes to first aid rescure, police department, fire department, modern roads and very good building codes.

I think that's probably a bit of an overstatement. It's more likely that the cities aren't as densely populated as some of the ones on Haiti. All of that may be well and good, but nothing is really made to handle 8.8.

my feelings are far from hurt, yes you should collect money for your sensationalism (guess you just failed to see the correlation not the direct comparison), who gave me grief for not donating? I don't really care if someone did or didn't donate, I just find it funny how people act all righteous and pious bc they dialed a couple numbers in their phone and hit send. For me, I'd rather give money to the homeless bum at the corner.
Just imagine what could be done here in the states if people would donate as much time, energy and money into such horrible cir stances in our own backyard.
