The problem is West wouldn't bring back players to replace his scoring. We can easily start Collison at CP3's position, and acquire enough players to start around West, Thornton, and Collison.
As long as he'd bring some talent, who cares? You'd bottom out and acquire a scorer in the draft or use the cap space to get one in free-agency or trade for one using spare pieces.

If you keep trying to keep contending with this core you'll never be more than a 6-8 seed and in 2012 Paul balks. Then what? You start a long rebuilding process after losing 2 years to achieve nothing in hopes that you get lucky enough in the lottery to draft a new Chris Paul. If you believe that Collison is even close to Paul in terms of talent you're incredibly wrong - and I'm one of the few who doesn't think Paul is the #1 PG in the league.

Obviously Collison doesn't have the talents of CP3, but he's gonna be a great PG and can easily start for a great team. That's why we have to build around Collison and Thornton and start over. Trading CP3 would allow that. Plus we could unload Okafor with him and get draft picks and talent.

+100000 Everyone drinking the collison flavored tea right now. Time to stop before we all end up dead laying down together in a deserted field in Missouri.

Time to trade collison while his stock is peaking to get a less backup for Paul, and another quality player or great draft pick in the process

reality of the nba is that smaller markets cant go over the lux tax. look at what memphis had to do and what utah is doing this year. the key is to sell high and right now paul is high. of course keeping the best PG in basketball is what the fans want but from the owner's perspective if you can pay a guy 15mil less for 3 years for basically the same numbers, thats a no brainer especially if u can package another bad deal with CP3.

The grizzlies got hammered when they traded gasol and rightfully so, with pau, they would still be a bottom tier in the west. trading him allowed them to rebuild and have cap relief to build a solid team.

i hope cp3 stays in NO because that city needs him to have people go see the hornets but the truth of the business might dictate otherwise.

Darren Collison is a bad ass. He needs a starting gig somewhere in the NBA.

Hornets need to trade West and get back Devin Brown...imagine a starting 5 with Paul, Thornton, Collison, Downtown Devin Brown, and Aaron Gray.
