Mel has a good idea....can't find the direct quote but I think it was:

    Yr 1 - $8M
    Yr 2 - $8.8M
    Yr 3 - $9.6M ($3.2M guaranteed)

That way Ginobili gets at least the $20M guaranteed that he'd likely get from a team in free agency and the Spurs get Ginobili for two years and a decent trade chip in Yr 3.

Good numbers . Manu won't say no. This way, he will finish on the Spurs. I suspect he would take veteran's minimum after Year 3 to play on, if the Spurs are still contending.

If the Spurs can get someone to bite on Richard Jefferson next year (hey, is there a team that wants to run the Princeton Offense and needs a perfect fit?) and if Splitter comes in, and if they get a decent SF (Travis Outlaw?) in the offseason to go along with Manu, they would not be out of contending status.

Some always say a SF, what about Gist or is he out already? He has done great overseas and could help out alot here IMO.
