How in the world did you get "The series is over" from my post? I was simply commenting that no matter what happened in this game, Spurs fans would find some reason to be confident about winning the next one. I know this from experience--the Spurs suffered an epic beatdown in Game 3 last year, and this board was littered with optimism that the Spurs would win Game 4 for this and that reason.

The point isn't at all that the series is "over." It's not. The point is that people are always going to find a reason to say that their team will win the next one.
Not me. I knew without Ginobili last year, we were screwed. I think the Spurs will win this series, should I have seen something to make me think otherwise?

They think there team will win the next one because they are fans. If you don't like this, then quit trolling a rival teams fan forum, and go to your own.

Game 2 will be a great game.

I believe that if Dallas wins, the series will be over in 6 in the Mavs favor.

I believe that if the Spurs win, the series will be over in 6 in the Spurs favor.
It's not that I don't expect to see optimism. What's funny is the things people try to spin into optimism (i.e., "Mavs only won by 6"). I mean, it's just hilarious to me.

    T
Richard Jefferson opting out is lose/lose aside from the fact that you wouldn't have to see him in a Spurs uniform anymore.
Try Win-Lose. We win, he loses.

I'm not going to say you should have seen something to make you think otherwise, no. But if you want to say that you saw something tonight that makes you believe affirmatively that they will win...i don't think you're being objective. To put it another way: if you went into this series thinking that the Spurs would lose, nothing tonight could have reasonably changed your mind.

I saw all I needed to see. Manu and Tim look healthy and Spurs made correctable mistakes, a lot of mistakes but it was only a 6 point loss despite epicly bad officiating.

That said, Richard Jefferson and Roger Mason don't need to see the floor. They're not built for playoff basketball. This isn't the Eastern Conference circa 2002.
Awesome. I am glad to see I wasn't the only guy with this mindset after the game. Spurs are fine. We are going to win this Series.

We got this. We got this.

If the Spurs can limit their turnovers some and control the fouls, I like their chances Wednesday.

Whats so funny about it you did only win by 6, should of been 20+.
We can't play any worse and yet the Mavs couldn't deal a 20 point drumming to us, if they did maybe then I wouldn't have been feeling to good about the rest of the series.

Tony is still not himself and neither is Hill, that said if they get rid of the unforced turnovers I like our chances

Somehow, my gut feeling tells me that we can realistically win this series.
    Go Spurs!

The Mavs were shooting in the 30s percent wise and the Spurs couldn't put away the Mavs in the first half. Waps1980... you need to see that these two teams are very evenly matched. Once the double teams come on Dirk, which some did last night, other Mavs will pick up the slack. Hopefully, RC lets Roddy come in and get some easy points for the Mavs. Roddy Buckets is the equal to speed and scoring of Manu.

Spurs have a decent shot...game 2 is close to a must win for them. Mavs are gonna steal at least one game in San Antonio. Not sure if Dirk or Butler will let the Mavs lose though. If Terry has a decent shooting night and Barea doesn't play more than 15 mins I don't think Spurs can win

    Spurs in 6. Book it.

I already did. I bet $500 to win $1300 for Spurs to win in 6 games.

The Mavs have to win game 2 to maintain the baton at hand. If lost, they will have to play 3 games in SA (if they survive to game 6), which equals ceding the HCA. It's just how the Spurs managed to lose the series last season IIRC, getting curbstomped in game 1 and won game two, and supposedly lost both games in Dallas, then no hope remained as they carried 1-3 playing game 5 tentatively and finanlly lost the game.

I hope most of you guys are right. I really can't take another playoff bouncing at the hands of the Cuban, Nowitzki(touch me foul) and the MAVS.

I didn't get to watch the game because I'm deployed but once again from the Box score it's hard to accept that officiating wasn't a large part of the loss. Spurs shot better from the field 50% on 39/78 36% on 4/11 from three. 86% from the line at 12/14 but they shot TWENTY yes TWENTY less FTs. Dallas on the other hand shot 47% on 35/74. 5/14 for 36% from THREE. AND SHOT 20 MORE FTS. 25/34 for 74%. THAT'S BULL !

Totally agree... Stern should ins ute a rule for this that all foul calls must be equal by the end of the game. It's the only way to be fair, right?

Spurs ain't gonna win if they don't shake off their TO-and-missed-FT flu they've been suffering from for weeks.

If Mavs win one in SA, winning the next in DAL won't even matter.

Not sure what anyone saw last night that would lead them to believe we can hang w/ these guys the NEXT game.

Game 1 is usually when the home team gets the road team's best shot. I fully expect a blowout on Wed.

I would love to be as optimistic as most, but I don't see any evidence that this Spurs team can take this series. They appear to be overmatched from a talent and depth standpoint - on both ends of the court. No longer can Parker, Duncan and Ginobili, carry the entire load for this team on both ends, with little to no help from the role players.

Again, watching how this team performed for most of the season, it's not surprising in the least. I wish it weren't that way, but I'm simply going off what we've watched all season. Expecting a marginal playoff team, which has performed at a mediocre level all year, to suddently and magically come together for an extended playoff run, is "pie-in-the-sky", wishful thinking.

Furthermore, if the news on Hill is true and he indeed cannot play, the series IS reallly over. Colour me as Capt. Bringdown.

It's already packed, son. The replies in this thread are hilarious. You clowns think your loss was due to poor performance? How about the Mavs just going out there and taking care of business as expected.
    Hey laker fan

Spurs are essentially down their 4th best player (Hill). Who's arguably been their 2nd best player (next to Manu) in the 2nd half of the season.

If your fakers didn't have Bynum healthy (say for instance.. Phil Jackson plays him in the last meaningless game of the season and he reaggravates his achillees)

    Then what, faker fan?
