I agree, that Kobe is better, I really couldn't say the margin, because it's so hard to tell. Just saying, Lakers overpaid for a very injured and worn down Kobe.
Manu is a bad defender, though.

Well, point proved.
Manu isn't a poor defender. He's never been a liability. He's just not used to guarding quality opposing players, because it's always been Bowen's job. He's having to learn not to take so many risks.
He's crafty and persistent...he also has the athletic ability to challenge shots, which he does.

Manu's worth is often overlook in San Antonio because of Duncan. But he;s such a great momentum turner with a wide range of game. He's one of those rare players that you dont ever want to see hang up his sneakers.
Since when is Manu anything barely above a passing grade for his defense? I've seen it all from Manufans now. He can do no wrong! He is the perfect basketball player!

Manu is one of those players who just can flat out ball. He'll score when you need it, make a great pass when you need it, grab a huge board when you need it, make a clutch steal when you need it, etc. Swiss army knife player with a boatload of talent. I just really enjoy watching him play.
I remember seeing a couple spurs games during the 2003 season and thinking specifically "this guy is going to be a problem". Sure enough second round he was there doing all the little things that helped eliminate us. Completely unselfish, always makes the right play, lots of offensive talent, crafty on defense. Love the guys game.
Now watch him go 3-13 next game.

Noone is saying he's all-nba dumbass. He makes some unecessary gambles at times and is not strong enough to defend bigger guys...but as far staying in front of players he's solid. Not to mention his ability to come up with opportune blocks, steals, or charges.
He's probably a top 5 perimeter defender of all time. These are things we know.
