The voting panel consisted of the NBA’s 30 head coaches, who were asked to select five players for the first team and five players for the second team, regardless of position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Two points were awarded for first team votes and one for second team votes.

Fair enough, vote regardless of position, but then actually rank them with regards to making an actual team. This is pretty much another rookie of the year voting with more chances to win

It could hurt him in the pocketbook if his career doesn't last all that long ... but if those knees hold up (granted, it's a big if), he should be rewarded both financially and in the win-column.

I would suggest that you cant put a price on playing the sport you love with one of the greatest teams in the history of the game. I think there would be quite a few people out there who would have played for free to be a part of those great celtics, lakers, bulls or spurs teams.

But I'm really glad for the Spurs and Blair that he wound up in San Antonio. He might not be putting up the numbers he's capable of and be getting the instant gratification that comes with the notoriety and accolades because of those numbers, but he'll be a better player for it -- DeJuan most likely would've turned out to be an empty stat-machine playing on a bad team. He would've developed terrible habits, been a defensive liability (possibly perpetually) and been viewed as someone whose numbers didn't translate into winning, IMO.

Gibson's a very solid player and deserving of the nod, given the role he played for a playoff team. I've got no problem with the selection (but he is fishing while DeJuan's manning the front lines of The Resistance ).[/
