LOL @ fans getting upset over a non-travel by The King..
Carmelo and Bynum are the worst off the top of my head when it comes to traveling..
That the NBA no longer regards it as a violation resulting in a loss of possession does not mean it is not a travel, which it assuredly is.
doesnt look like a travel to me. Shaq used to do that move all the time.
Traveling is still a rule in the NBA..the rule book says that this specific type of incident can't be called traveling, therefore, this isn't a travel my dude..
Looked like a hop-step (he just really overdid the hopping part). What is a travel is that hop two-step garbage the NBA has gotten laxed on and makes guys look indefensible who would normally be average.
Regardless, I'm glad he and the Cavs caught the "L-Train" home tonight.....at least something went right.
Looks like LeBron was within the rules.
That said... that rule seems spretty stupid. I mean, I always played with up and down rules, whereby if you go fully airborne, both feet, then you have to pass or shoot before you land.
But good catch nonetheless Chris. I'm still keeping it as a sig.![]()
It's probably the vigorousness of the hopping that's off-putting to me.![]()
As high as he got up, he could've just laid the damn ball up.![]()
ing , the NBA just keeps making the game easier. whats wrong with just having normal rules?
NBA Rule Book: A progressing player who jumps off one foot on the first step may land with both feet simultaneously for the second step. In this situation, the player may not pivot with either foot and if one or both feet leave the floor the ball must be released before either returns to the floor.
So not a travel......
Yes, that was brought up before.
I'm still not a fan of the bunny hop... especially when it's more of a monster hop.![]()
The running Horns used to use a similar hop step when they were coached by Tom Penders.
Travis May and co.
If you do a hop step off of one foot, then pivot after landing, it would be a travel. If you jump back up, its not. However, if you do a hop step off two feet, then you are allowed to pivot without being called for a travel.
Not a travel.
Well you're more than welcome to call it a travel to your heart's content in the peewee leagues.
Agreed. That rule is very stupid, unless you consider that it was implemented specifically to accomodate LeBron James. Then it's not so much stupidity as blatant favoritism. The REALLY stupid part is that this rule didn't exist in the Shaq/Kobe Lakers days, yet as some posters have already pointed out, they never called it on Shaq and Kobe. If they had called everything on Shaq exactly as the rulebook prescribed, he would have either changed his game a lot, or would never have averaged more than 21-22 ppg.
I would love to see someone do the same exact move Lebron did but jump even higher when they do that bounce....
LMAO the assistant coach for boston makes this a legendary gif
that's not a step. that's a jump. gotta be a travel call in real bball rules.
A ^game^ it is not.
If they called traveling to the letter of the law, the NBA would be almost as boring as the WNBA. You think you hate it, but we're all better off when LeBron/Kobe/Manu gets let off the hook for their nonstop traveling.
The real reason WNBA is more boring than the NBA is that the players are slower, smaller, and have less leaping ability on the average. It has nothing to do with how the game is called. Less of the action occurs above the rim, plain and simple.
