Duncan actually had a pretty good defensive year, it kind of went unnoticed with the inconsistency of the Spurs this year..

The Spurs were a top 10 defensive team with Duncan being 1st on the team in defensive rating by a good margin, 1st in defensive wins by a good margin, and he still blocked 1.7 per 36, which is very good, especially considering the pace..

The Spurs defense was 5 points worse with Duncan off the floor, a massive fall..

He can't defend the perimeter any more, but he's ing MONEY in the paint. I hadn't realized quite how "long" he is, and why he blocks all of those shots without jumping much, and then I saw the jump ball picture for the game 2 Spurs/Suns preview on the Spurs page. Amare can obviously jump much higher, and did, but both he and Tim have the same amount of hand on the ball.
They list Duncan at 6-11 and Stoudemire at 6-10, but if you see these two guarding each other or standing near each other during a dead ball, Duncan is noticeably taller and significantly longer.

As for the All-Defensive team selection, he was already the all-time leader in selections, this just adds to his total. Hopefully by the time he's done, he can put it close to out of reach, though Howard might have a shot at it.

I can't believe Mason didn't even get a single vote.
