You can congratulate a team, be classy, and shake hands without being all smiles, hugs, and laughing after you got swept at home.

Oh well, I guess it shouldn't be surprising that after watching a postseason of Dallas breaking Manu's face (with no retaliation), Dallas crushing Tony (with no retaliation), Phoenix crushing Tony (with no retaliation), that we'd be high fiving the Suns and wishing them good luck next round...

i'm sure they're relived that this sandwich of a year is over.

Btw, if you'd have told me as late as 1 april that we would both make the playoffs, and advance one round, regardless of the subsequent result, i'd have been happy. The spurs were playing with house money after dallas, but it ran out.

I like it... the Suns are a damn good team and we have always been all class. It's something you don't see in sports very often.

    I like it.

I don't think that them smiling and being happy for the Suns means that they did not all try their best to win this series and this game.

It's just their personality. Particularly Tim and Manu.

Also I believe Pop actually likes Alvin Gentry and truly admires the work he's done with his team.
Gentry and Pop were both assistants under Larry Brown, and Pop hired him to be an assistant in 01 before he got offered a head coach job a couple of months later, so I'd imagine they're friends.

the teams probably respect each other given their history as year-in-year-out playoff rivals.
I agree. It's the fans and the media that start all the talk about how the two teams don't like each other.

    They laugh because:

4- They will retire in 3 years, being millionaries, and young,,,,,,and you studying, with a big chance of unemployment, and if employed, with a basic salary for your profession, working 50+ hours per week, with mortgages, car loans, 15 days vacation, and fat with little time to exercise. Also, they are famous, so they can pursue whatever women they like in any given road trip. Also, you gonna retire when 60 yrs old, and they are retiring in their mid 30's.

    Believe me, they can laugh.
I'm sure that's EXACTLY what they were thinking!!

It's easy to show class when they win. I'm glad the Spurs still show it when they lose.

You just got swept, on your home floor no less, and you're out there all smiles and hugs for Phoenix?

That is pathetic. Disappointing seeing it from all of the prodigal sons too - Duncan, Manu, TP. Even saw DRob out there
Why not? The better team won-Spurs just showing respect.....bitter to swallow but that's the way it goes.

It pissed me the off too but maybe that's just my mentality. It didn't even look like they were hiding the smiles either. The gesture was classy but a part of me feels that it shows that they were resigned to defeat before this game. It could be just me but that's what I think

Smiling is not class. I agree the Spurs are classy, but if they would have just shaken hands and hugged, while not smiling, they would have been just as classy. Not really a big issue though.

The Suns pissed me off significantly less than the Mavs if it would have been the Spurs smiling w/ the Mavs after losing a series.

No one expected from the Suns, and they took care of business with minimal talk and dirty plays. Shake hands and wish them luck.

    They laugh because:

1- they have 4 Rings already

2- won Million$$$$$ while playing (winning or losing) they are still millionaries

3- they won't work until next training camp, so they have long more than 6 weeks vacations,,,,,something you can't afford

4- They will retire in 3 years, being millionaries, and young,,,,,,and you studying, with a big chance of unemployment, and if employed, with a basic salary for your profession, working 50+ hours per week, with mortgages, car loans, 15 days vacation, and fat with little time to exercise. Spurs smiles were of relief, being able to GTF off the court of horrible embarrassment.

These Spurs never had a chance, they never had the confidence, toughness, hustle, skills to be winners.

I applaud it, not pissed in the slightest. They all know they were dominated the whole series, and they showed respect to the Suns. They are rivals but in many ways both teams respect eachother a lot. You can't do anything but show complete respect for Steve Nash, he's an amazing player who controls the game very well and also is very classy. He deserves it.
