great food for thought. it'd be great. he can spread the floor. not sure how good he defensively. he's young.

i wouldn't trade Parker for him, though. people forget parker helped us win 3 championships, and he's still in his prime. he was just injured this year, and his game didn't co-exist well th RJ's at all. once hes able to be play in a more spread offense we'll see a totally different TP, and team for that matter. you don't trade tp for him. Hill, fine; RJ, definitely.

Has anyone stop and think why would the Grizzlies trade Gay to us? They sure wouldn't want to get rid of him unless they can get something good back. Something very good. Something the Spurs don't have outside the big 3.

People have to understand that nobody gives a about expirings during the offseason lol. 2010 is here people, it was an anomaly, teams are no longer trying to open capspace two years in advance.

No one wants RJ or his contract until at least the start of 2011

Because he's a RFA and he's by no means "untouchable." He's not even THAT good, a solid #4 option or decent #3 on a good team. Plus he's a chucker and would want a lot of touches. This isn't LeBron James they're coddling, it's Rudy Gay.

Any deal involving Parker I say NO to.

would u agree gay is much younger and much athletic compared to richard...and moreover richard was askd to defend well being a 4th scoring option on the team...
Yes, my point was his stats as a Grizzly mean nothing.

do it x1000....gay is perfect fit for the system....and he is a defensive minded player.....
I don't think Gay has a reputation as a defender.

19.6ppg, 4.6rpg, .8steals pg and .2blocks pg for Richard Jefferson as a Buck....

means nothing until he does it for the Spurs.

Rudy is the #1 option for the Griz and so was Jefferson with the Bucks. Im not saying not to pursue him, but this is just a warning label.
    Not exactly apples to apples.

Jefferson was closer to the "only" option on the Bucks as he was the #1. Gay actually was behind Randolph in shots/game for the Griz.

In addition to Randolph, Mayo and Gasol both command a lot of touches - so Gay has had to work on scoring while not always commanding the ball.

The only thing that would bother me is that he is not a particularly good 3 pt shooter, but still shoots volume out there.

We have enough gays on the team. Seriously, a shot chucker like Gay isn't what the team needs. They need a mobile big and swingman who can shoot and guard a couple of positions satisfactorily, and maybe another shooter to bring off the bench.

I'd rather have Mayo than Gay. Gay fell out of favor with Memphis this year.

That would be slick, but almost too good to be true. Who would Memphis want, and what would be their incentive?
    Mason, Bonner and Bogans

    Do it Grizzlies.

Rudy is my guy. THAT is the player I had hoped the Spurs would target. I don't see how it's possible without a sign-n-trade, but if the Spurs could somehow swap our RJ's expiring contract for Rudy and whatever, that would be boss.

No thanks. I like him for what he is, but he would not fit this team or help enough where we need it. Sure, if you could get him for some steal, then ok, but that won't be the case.

that shows how much u know about him

gay averaged 19.6ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.5 stealspg and 0.8blockspg for the griz...those are pretty good numbers for a SF...
you really think gay is a defender?

he has the tools, but to believe he is, what does that make someone like battier? jesus?

    He's better than RJ.

The comparison to Battier makes no sense because the Rockets aren't stupid to make the mistake RC made and giving away a good player inside their division, the same way the Spurs did with Scola.

I would love for Gay to be on the Spurs, he has a nice jumper and attacks very good. I don't know but if we could get David Lee , eddy curry and Rudy Gay for Parker RJ deal I would be all over it!

On defense yes Battier but on offense Gay is in another league then Battier. Overall Gay > Battier and RJ.

+1. He's a more talented player OVERALL than RJ. He plays better D and is a better mid-range shooter than RJ as well...

What team in their right mind would want RJ's contract? Disregarding whether or not he sucks as bad as we think, that ginormous expiring contract isn't going to be easy to unload. I was just hoping he'd opt out and we could be done with him and chase some other talent.

That Suns series really opened my eyes to the talent in this league. Who knew Channing Fry, and Dudley (who the is Dudley) were so clutch? We need some guys like that. Rudy Gay has torched us before. He's bound to be a better fit than RJ.

Gay is very high on everyone's list. Meaning, he won't come here cuz we'll be outbid.
