I just can't figure out why they keep leaving Finley open.

He's probably the one guy on the Mavs who has brought it every night in the playoffs, and is really stroking it from outside.

You've gotta guard him, and Phoenix is doubling off of him. I guess that's why they're not known for their defense.

ANybody else remember Sean Elliott grabbing the rim and slipping off and falling on his back? That brought back some painful memories.
Yes, I do. Actually, didn't it happen to him twice? I remember once at HemisFair Arena (I was in attendance), the Spurs were playing the Bucks and Sean was on the break, caught a long pass and Brad Lohaus came up and got him from behind and Sean fell flat from way up in the air.

Joe missing game 3, doubtful for game 4...fracture of the left orbital bone, and a concussion.

Bad news for Joe. He'll probably have to go to goggles or some sort of protection.

So since they ruled it a flagrant, will Stackhouse get suspended?

It won't matter as long as he will be there to take out Bowen in the semi finals.

It should be overruled, it was questionable as a regular foul even.

exactly. Just a 2pt win? i doubt it if the Mavs could pull a win tonight if only Jo was there thoughout the game.He is a good 3pt shooter. He could be the missing difference.

And he hasn't missed a game in 3 seasons? sounds like our Bowen

If Anthony wasn't suspened for an obvious flagarant i doubt that Stackhouse will. Most likely this will be overturned.

I was actually joking. I think Stack is a cheap shot artist but that definitely wasn't a flagrant. The Suns seem to benefit from soccer calls; the severity of the penalty is dependent upon the severity of the fall or the reaction of the fans.

    hmmnn

looks like it was called flagrant by Bavetta...
He was treated for several minutes, receiving six s ches to close a cut near his left eye. Referee Bavetta belatedly called it a flagrant foul.

here's the rest of the story...

PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix guard Joe Johnson fractured a bone near his left eye when he was fouled on a layup with 19.7 seconds left in the first half of Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Suns and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.

He was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital and will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair the displaced bone. He will miss at least Game 3 Friday night in Dallas, the Suns said.

Johnson was fouled hard by Jerry Stackhouse and landed face-first on the America West Arena court. He was treated for several minutes, receiving six s ches to close a cut near his left eye. Referee Bavetta belatedly called it a flagrant foul.

Johnson stayed in the game, looking like a boxer who had just lost a fight, and made one of the two free throws before leaving the game for good.

He was diagnosed with a mild concussion and a fractured orbital bone and was to remain hospitalized overnight. A CAT scan came back negative, the Suns said.

Johnson, a fourth-year guard, has not missed a game over the past three seasons.

Stackhouse didn't take out Joe J. He actually blocked the ball and they had some body contact but it was Joe J himself who hurt himself because he was holding onto the rim and then flew off and hit his face on the court.

Joe J is not playing Game 3 and probably not Game 4 now.

^Good to see a non bias person saw the game.

it was not the foul, but the landing that hurt that man. Things like that happen
just ask David Robinson after Malone's elbow

I bet if it was Bowen taking out that Suns player then it would be ok to joke about it,

Poor guy I hope nothing like that happens to anyone in the playoffs, or at least not to the Spurs. (knock on wood)
