Question, probably for Kori since she knows this kinda stuff, there were rumors surrounding AD's departure that he was bad in the locker room. Was there any truth to that?
not really...but he and Pop did have their differences...I think Antonio is finally starting to accept that Pop was right...basically this is what happened...

Antonio is a scorer and wanted to play starting 2 guard...but Pop kept trying to get him to realize that there were a ton of scoring 2 guards coming into the league every year but that he didn't have the all around skill set to be a premier 2 guard and wanted to shift him to point guard...naturally we had Avery at the time and that would put AD coming off the bench...but Antonio didn't want to play point guard...so he went to Portland where they "promised" he would start at 2 guard...you saw how that worked out...it wasn't till he finally realized he needed to play point guard that he started getting significant minutes in the league...the "locker room cancer" thing was a messageboard invention in my opinion...

Antonio provided the fire for the Sonics. The Spurs would have won in spite of their poor showing were it not for AD.

It sucks that TD will not knock him down like his CURRENT teammates are getting knocked down. He lets Daniels go right around him (it has happened several times) while TP and Manu are getting the crap kicked out of them. Not fair, not right, total bull . Watching last night it looked like Duncan wants him to do well. Lost some respect for TD last night.

Lukes the "future" and Antonio is a potential FA this summer...Nate is probably doing the right thing and using AD as a spark off the bench like Pop uses Manu...

If you will remember, Tony came to the team at that time. Antonio started the season and was supposed to help school Parker to start. Well, Parker was already so ggod that about 5 games into the season he deferred his starting slot to Tony. At least that is how I remember it.

First of all, someone who cannot construct a simple sentence, and doesn't know the differece between your and you're, shouldn't call anyone names. I will consider the source, and ignore your insult. Secondly, knocking someone down is a metaphor for challenging a shot. Tim challenges Ray Allen, he challenges Rashard Lewis...goes after the ball hard, but when Daniels comes down the lane he lets him go around him and lay it in off the board. If you can't see that, then you are not paying attention.

I'm a little tired of hearing Spurs fans sounding like Nuggets fans after a loss. So and so should get knocked down, Tim should step on people, Tim should hard foul people. The Spurs should hit free throws, not start fights. We saw how well Robinson's technical did at getting the crowd back into the game.

There is a big difference between a hard foul and letting someone go to the basket uncontested. That is what Duncan is letting Daniels do. Asking for him to contest all shots in the same manner is not being a Nugget fan. In my opinion he has given Daniels 6-8 points in each game without much defensive effort. TD had a poor game for him last nght on top of the love affair with a former teammate. I am a huge Spurs fan, but I think this particular sub-plot of the series stinks.

The reason that I said that Duncan should step over AD instead of pick him up is because this is a battle for an NBA Championship. For example if Bowen gets knocked down and an opponent tries to pick him up, then he waves them off and gets picked up by a teammate or gets up himself. I just think that Tim should do the same with AD -- though he's a friend off the court, he's not a teammate. Step over him and stay focused on the task at hand.

(BTW, when I said to step on him, that was a joke.)

    Tpark, you're the moron.

There's a difference between hurting someone, giving them a hard foul, and the escorts Duncan is giving Daniels to the damn rim.

I agree with Kori's point. AD drew that foul on Tim, so Tim has no reason to feel responsible for the contact. It's a little odd that any educated Spurs fan would think that Tim can't be a great player and a nice guy at the same time. The fact that he commits hard fouls or doesn't pick someone up won't make his shots fall. It's not like he wasn't being aggressive.

The problem I have is people on here saying stupid crap like the Spurs need to put Tony Massenburg in the game and take someone out. The spurs delivered a number of hard playoff fouls last night. They did it the right way, and nobody noticed. It's the rotations and free throws they missed that killed them.

Hopefully they can get in alot of free throw practice between now and sunday. I've never understood what the problem is.Just aim for the box...Spurs will win next game and make 85% of their free-throws

    "alot of free throw practice"

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has worked OVER THE YEARS.

Tony said he hits 95/100 in the morning shoot around, then hits 65% in the game, under 70% for his career.

Last night was just one of many games the Spurs have lost at the line. I think last season alone, Tim alone lost 2 or 3 games missing FTs in crunch time.

Pop has said they don't obsess on it, for fear of making it a distracting pre-occupation. There are plenty of other ways to win games, esp defense, which killed us last night as much as the FTs. Letting an unathletic turd like James score on all thsee pnr's is ridiculously bad for our interior defense and help defense. One less of those dunks, we win.

Somebody pointed out that the least important stat to a championship team is free throw percentage. It's going to cost the Spurs a game here and there if they don't play well enough to overcome it. Free throw shooting has won the Spurs more games this post-season than it's lost. This isn't exactly like game 3 against the Lakers last year, no matter how much the trolls wish it were.

AD. When he was with the Spurs he was one of the most mentally weak, anti-clutch players on the team. Pop would chew his ass constantly because he was so soft. You could count on his nuts to shrivel in the crunch like clockwork and I still believe he's the same player. He's had his moments in this series because for some reason, the Spurs flat out refuse to honor him with the least bit of defense.

It's maddening because AD is just not that good. Never has been, never will be. I predict the minute the Spurs pay any serious attention to him he'll be shut down. They haven't paid him any respect yet.

I see nothing wrong with TD helping his good friend up off the ground.

Tim is a good friend, so it is not like he is aiding and abetting the enemy.

I did, in the post you replied to. You obviously read it if you referred to it.

The Spurs playoff FT woes are a legitimate concern.
The Spurs are shooting better from the line in the playoffs, probably including the bad free throw shooting in game 3. It might cost them a game here and there, but they led the league in margin of victory, in spite of the poor FT percentage. If they are going to lose 4 out of 7 games in a series, it won't be because they couldn't shoot free throws.
