The ref had no choice intentional or not his arm prevented a goal.

the former german FIFA ref Krug told on german TV that there was a better solution:
Righr before the shot an australian player fouled a Ghanaer (pushing him to the ground). He told the best solution would be to give that penalty and not the hand on the line.
