    B. I did want a SF with the 1st pick, but a SG that can really shoot and score is fine with me, and I did want a project big with the 2nd pick, although I didn't want a "spread 4" big, but oh well, he looks like he can really play.

    Good job, Spurs. Now, to free agency.

    A+, with the only knock being a debate whether alabi or richards would've been a better pick. Anderson is going to be a significant piece for us this season. lol @ the "B rating" crowd

    we dont really know, how good the players will be...so riht now, we should judge it like this:

    A --> skrewed all the other teams and noone of us could have ever dreamed of that
    B --> improved somehow (a steal, nice moves to take advantage of other teams)
    C --> just got, what they wanted/needed
    D --> had to settle with players, that dont fit or had to give up more than they wanted to get fits
    E --> really blow the thing off...what where they thinking?
    F --> Bowie over Jordan?

    ...so regarding our draft it should be in the B- to C range...last year would have been a B to B+ coz of Blair...

    We got someone who'll be in our rotation, at a position that needed strengthening in terms of depth(Signed, Bogan. K, & Mason. R. Jnr (2010))"The inability to defend, shoot, or do the job paid to do by an organisation. " San Antonio Spurs.)

    Is he likely to star? No, but you can't expect that at 20. As RC said in the interview, you can't be picky at 20. He should be able to score at the NBA level, and while we still need SF depth, It's not like Hill is uncapable of playing PG. It's just a choice between Temple playing minutes at PG or Gee/Hairston/unidentified veteran SF(LLE etc)

    I'd say B+/A-.

    I'm pretty far from being a college hoops specialist but I'm left wondering how a kid that got big XII mvp can drop this low in the first round.
    From what I heard, he was the main (and sole) weapon of his team on offense, thus getting double teamed every time he got the ball and still was that efficient? That's quite a feat.
    Sounds pretty good to get such an achiever at the college level at the 20th pick range.

    I like the pick. Anderson sounds like a player who can contribute right away and adds some things the Spurs were lacking more often than not.

    I'm still curious whether the FO will do something about the 3 spot, though.

    While I personally hunger for a big to help out against LA (note who won the le this year with their length), it's also obviously true that Spurs need some got-dam shooters, so let's hope this kid can be a good one.

    Would have been an A if they would have taken Alabi instead of Richards.

    Take it for what it's worth but ie V tweeted this:

    "James Anderson going to Spurs at #20 will be the steal of the NBA draft!"

    I feel the same way. We still have a ways to go before we can challenge the Lakers. Since the Spurs didn't draft a big that can help out right away, now they have to trade for one. Again, it would be good to have Splitter, but even with him we stilll need another big to protect the basket.

    B+...love the Anderson pick but the Richards move seems like a throwaway. I would have preferred we take Alabi or N'Diaye.

    Anderson had an injury that limited his ability during pre-draft workouts. As usual, a lot of teams get *really skeered* when there's any hint of injury and let players like Anderson drop.

    As far as I'm concerned, the big question that still remains who is the primary backup at SF?

    From Bill Simmons:

    6:33: Weird one for me: I've learned never to doubt San Antonio's picks, but they just took someone I had penciled in as a bust (Oklahoma State's James Anderson). This is awkward.

    Just saw that on ESPN too, how could a 20th pick be a bust though?

    James Anderson is a vintage Spurs pick. He didn't wow anyone in workouts but he was a consistent scorer in college (22.3 points last season) who has an NBA-ready jump shot. He'll fit right in with a Spurs bench that has needed an infusion of youth and will probably contribute early. English center Ryan Richards is a bit of an unknown, but when it comes to finding top overseas talent, the Spurs front office is second to none.

    Some think he isn't athletic enough and isn't fluid in his motions, i.e., isn't a "natural" basketball player.

    But neither was Bowen (he wasn't drafted at all).

    From Bill Simmons as well: Atlanta takes Damion James, the Texas scorer who has a hygiene fetish and showers four times a day. (Not making that up.) He's the Bizarro Pau Gasol. In other news, I went 6-for-24 in my mock draft. Where's my Finals MVP trophy?

    No moves-- just some reasonable picks.
