Meh it's more the money. Neither Phoenix nor Miami were willing to guarantee him 5 years, the last two years were based off how healthy he was the first 3. Amare basically threw D'antoni under the bus in 2008 and played a large role in him leaving Phoenix, D'antoni isn't the big reason why he chose NY.

Agreed that dollars are his primary motivation. Once Sarver removed the possibility of a S&T and with it the possibility of a six year deal with 10.5% raises, the max he could get is five years with 8% raises. NY made a firm offer for the max and he took it.

I don't think anyone knows what Miami might have offered him. Bosh is clearly their first choice and Amare would never get a firm offer from Miami until Bosh had rejected them.

Miami had the same concerns Phoenix did, they weren't gonna guarantee him 5 years. NY was the only team willing to do so and he hopped on it immediately. He handled free agency with way more maturity than bags like Bosh or Lebron have.

How many times do GMs have to be reminded that you can't max out a defensive liability and build around that??? It NEVER works.

What's New York's alternative? Sit on the cap space? They know LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Johnson aren't signing with them. They're going to be pathetic regardless right? So sign a guy that can score 20 points a game and is a big name. I'm not saying the Knicks aren't screwed anyway. Sure they are. But what other choice do they have?

Yeah it'll be weird not seeing him in a Suns jersey, Idk which one outweighs the other my fanhood for Amare or hatred towards D'antoni.

Well the run & gun era is really over now in Phoenix. The two players left from the 2007 roster are Leandro Barbosa and Steve Nash, and Barbosa is as good as gone. I don't see any way Nash finishes his career on the Suns.

Is there a team worse at managing than the Suns? You get two games away from the finals, and you know the West will most likely get better, and the Lakers are set on 3-peating, and you let your main big guy walk... FOR NOTHING!!! They should of told that soft face got to kick rocks. Give Amare his contract... and waited until the dust settles. There are going to be tons of players that won't get ridiculous contracts and will have to settle, and that's when the Suns could have swooped in and gotten bargains.

This is what happens when you don't have a general manager. Securing Amare and waiting it out knowing there would be bargains left was the obvious thing to do.

Nash will not be going to the Knicks for a couple of reasons.
    1. Sarver isn't going to let D'Antoni have his favorite point guard
    2. When Nash does depart from Phoenix, why wouldn't he go to a championship contender? Teams like L.A., Dallas, and Cleveland (if LeBron stays) would be a better fit.
