It sounds like a great deal to me!

I'm fine with this contract, so long as it's in a sign-and-trade.![]()
I hope Spurs will do a S&T with RJ because it's by far the best solution for them.
For example, Spurs could do a three team trade with Nets and Wizards where they would end with Humphries and Mike Miller.
While I agree with you that the S&T with RJ is the best solution, the initial teams the Spurs may have lined up to do this may disappear after tomorrow.
What's with the damn fascination with kris freaking humphries?!?
It's about creating incentive for them to do a deal.
If you take back Humphries 1-year 3M it might be enough to get them to play ball and the Spurs could receive a trade exception for 4-5M instead the 7-8M they'd need if Humphries wasn't involved.
It's business, not fascination.
Edit: And in Bruno's scenario the Nets are just looking to shed his salary and the Spurs would use that as a means to land Miller.
I love the cap relief for the Spurs and if they are unable to facilitate a trade for a more suitable option, - even better. RJ is a good player. However the fact is, RJ just wasn't a good fit here. Perhaps he will be in his second season, but colour me skeptical.
I want RJ in Joyzee as much or more than anyone but it would seem like a less than ideal fit with Harris and Williams on the ball and a Big the caliber of Lopez on the roster.
Oh, well ... let's get that trade exception, shall we?![]()
I don't understand any of you. Unless any of you are Peter Holt, why do you care how many years/money/how much luxury tax it costs us that we give to RJ. If he leaves we will have to replace him with an inferior player (unless Tiago doesn't come and we use MLE on SF, but even then). I only care about how good our team is during the Manu/Duncan era and next year is what matters the most. If you take into consideration that we got off the hook for the 15 million this year, it is if we signed him for a 4 year/30 million dollars which is not too bad.
Vescey is such a piece of
This is so awesome, because now he can use the Spurs to get a deal, instead of his agent!!!![]()
I don't want to alarm you, lefty, but there seems to be a woman without the means for proper clothing seeking shelter in your sig.
Damn vagrants . . .
Anyone who thinks it's ok to have rj for 4-5 years needs to have their head checked. I pray the spurs don't want that.
Jefferson, based on his playoff performance and most of his regular season, might not even be worth the MLE for 3+ years.
Better to without him than with him.
yeh I get a whole Steve Smith vibe from him.....
If Drew Gooden is worth the MLE to an NBA team, then sadly so is Richard Jefferson. I'm hopeful that someone that has cap-space (read: New Jersey) and hasn't made a splash in free-agency makes him a better offer.
I really don't want to see this guy in a Spurs jersey for the next 4 or 5 years.
Hopefully if it's the Nets they're willing to go S&T for a trade exception. A TE worth somewhere between $6-8M could be pretty useful.
With Bosh and Wade both going to the same team, there's going to be someone without a chair when the music stops, and that's good news for the Spurs if RJ's willing to do a sign and trade.
So it looks like the deal is loaded moreso on the backend of the 5 yrs if the starting year is 7 mil. Jefferson is a good deal at 7, dont know about 9 though.
There are many players that average 12ppg getting well over that. This makes his presence easier to bear with I guess. If all this is true, it's clear the spurs dont want to wait for the trade deadline when a 15mil contract in february "could" get you something.
She keeps knocking at my door, I keep telling to GTFO, but she always comes back for more![]()
