Again assuming the report is true, this could explain why the Spurs were contacting guys like Matthews and Korver. Looks like the Spurs knew all along they would be able to get Tiago for something in this neighborhood.

All things considered it is possible that the Bonner hometown paper might have fudged the numbers a little / assumed some stuff for a local guy makes good story - and I think that paper is still the only place where the salary is mentioned.
