I too have been a die-hard Heat fan since time immemorial...I had season tickets to watch Jon Sundvold, Grant Long and Rony Seikaly wreck that in the 305 back in the day.

I'm not really. I'm intrigued by the notion of this team because I haven't seen a collection of talent like this, in their prime, ever. Kareem was 40 when Magic was 30. Gary Payton and Karl Malone were shadows of themselves in 2004. It's so foreign to get this much talent at one time with guys in their prime. I haven't had a ton of Lebron James, Chris Bosh, or Dwyane Wade dominating the league. Betweeen the three guys we're talking two Finals Appearances and one NBA Championship (of which I'm still leery of not awarding to Dallas). This is also a new franchise. The Heat have been around 20 years or so. They would be defining Heat basketball and perhaps cementing themselves among the great franchises in league history while doing it. I've never seen a Lakers or Celtics franchise born and nurtured before.
I'm an NBA fan more than anything else, exacerbated by the lack of contention in Detroit. I enjoy the league, especially when the quality of play is high. I don't suc b to the pettiness of supporting one team and thinking that they are superior just because of the jersies they wear. I was, but after this last group of Pistons, I doubt anyone will have my heart like that again. I want it to be to be a basketball argument.
Here's my thought-process on this one. We have seen 6 les in 8 years (Bulls), 4 les in 9 years (Spurs), 5 les in 11 years (Kobe and Phil's Lakers), back-to-back championships any number of times (Houston, Chicago, Detroit, LA), but we haven't seen a team dominate the league. It's been 50 years since the Celtics reign.
What better team considering the collection of talent I haven't seen in my lifetime, considering all the criticism and bittnerness that I feel is misplaced, for this team to dominate? They show us what it is like, something new, and they shut all these people up as well. If they keep the quality of play up, if everyone still tries to beat them, why not?
