    how about rashard mccants?

i did read his article, but some ppl just like to be left alone to deal with their own demons...
isnt he like 6'3? would rather have size at the 3 then another shooter.

I've been saying Butler should be our guy all off-season, and I'm very surprised that it hasn't happened yet. He is a perfect fit for our needs (perimeter defence, clutch 3pt shooting) that could be had cheap.

    Get it done, FO.

McCants? What the do we want with an undersized (6'4"), one-dimensional, selfish scorer?

If people complain about RJ's lack of rebounding, they'd go nuts on Rasual Butler. What does he average two boards per 30 minutes?

Anyway, I guess he'd be fine on the cheap, if RJ isn't returning. But his shooting percentage and rebounding leave something to be desired.

Butler's value is higher than 2.365 million TBH..

The guys we need to be asking ourselves about are Hayes, Nachbar and Jones. IMO

I watched a couple HL videos for the two most likely candidates, and I couldn't put my finger on, which was better.
You did some pretty vigorous film study there.

If RJ's on his way back, and I believe he is, I don't see options appreciably better than Anderson, Hairston or Gee for what the Spurs need, at least not that they need to throw cash at at the moment.

I'd be perfectly content to allow the young guys an opportunity to see what they got and if the Spurs deem it necessary to upgrade the position, they should be able to target and find a better player during the season.

If the Spurs don't bring back RJ, the best fits as starters are Barnes, Butler and then the risky picks of Josh Howard and TMac.

If RJ is re-signed, I would then want another role playing spot-up shooter added to the mix, with James Jones being the best shooter on the market. Bobby Simmons is another career 40%-plus career three-point shooter available to sign.

Both guys won't put SPURS on top of Lakers. Why bother? I would rather save money and give more playing time to develop the young players instead.

    I like Butler.
James Jones is a one trick pony (3pt shooter) and injured a lot. Matt Barnes is a defensive specialist and not a very spectacular one. Butler is a good balanced player. He isn't as good a shooter as Jones, but he is clutch He isn't as good a defender as Barnes (actually, he's not that far off), but he is long, a pretty decent shot blocker and feels like a good fit for the system.
Josh Howard and Tracy McGrady are too risky. Butler seems like the right guy.

Of course, if RJ isn't re-signed, we are going to be pretty weak at SF no matter what.

Yeah, you're right about that, but with the bigs we have now boards shouldn't be too much of an issue. Butler rebounds about as much as Bruce used to, anyway...
