If Slovenia hadn't spent the entire first quarter jacking up contested threes it could have been a pretty close game.
None of those calls were travelling. They call guys for pump-faking at the three point line even if they don't move their feet. The officials don't know what they're doing. Until they start whistling guys after they pick up their dribble instead of before they start it, the NBA influence isn't a factor.
I saw the boxscore but how did Nachbar look against USA
He looked good. I'm really surprised about him. First game was great, today also good. His shot is way better than in those preps. I was wrong about him. He can still dunk and rebound pretty good. Can nail a tree and is very aggressive.
He'll stay in Efes Pilsen this year, but next year if we don't get a smart SF he should get a chance.
He looked determined like he wanted to prove something to all the NBA GMs.
That dunk on Iggy and Odom was a beauty.
I was expecting that kind of determination from Dragic today, not from Boki. Dragic was dissappointing. I hope this was the only off day we see from him in this tournament.
yeah before I heard he signed again Efes Pilsen; I was hoping he would play well in the WC (especially against USA) and hopefully the Spurs would sign him; since we still don't have a true back up SF
Nachbar is for now our best player on the WC. Dragič today just wanted too much and he didn't do well.
I just can't wait to see tomorrows game agains Croatia in which all of our guys will look pumped up cause of the rivalry. And Nachbar always plays great against them. Hope to see him play even better tomorrow.
Don't jinx him!![]()
Tomato tomatoe.![]()
Dragič was also only Slovenian player in Q1 who draw attention from USA, he was even double-temed at the moment. USA pressed on Dragič and other Slovenian were just looking for their balls instead of finishing strong under the rim.
There was way too much in-out gane in Q1.
After Q1 Dragič did well.
WTF is Iguodala doing there? Synchronized shooting?
Not so much. Their shooting wasn't bad, but shot selection killed them. It's amazing how often good teams forget how important shot selection is. Teams try to get back a lead all at once or try to put away an opponent with low-percentage shooting. I wasn't rooting for Slovenia, but I was hoping for a better game and was quite disappointed in the shot selection early that basically cost them any chance of competing down the stretch.
Slovenia defeated Croatia in a great game.
Boki good once again. He's a Spurs material, cause he can't hit his FT.
Someone should youtube this. Boki drove past so fast, Iggy didn't know what the is going on.
Odom getting dunked on by euroscrubs
Where is a video of that dunk?? I can't find it on youtube.
Croatia hit Slovenia with everything they had and more but there was no stopping the Green Machine from Ljubljana on Monday.
In the frenetic atmosphere of Istanbul’s Abdi Ipekci Arena with the Slovenia fans once again creating a spectacle in Turkey at the FIBA World Championship, Memi Becirovic’s men battled to an 91-84 Group B victory.
The Croatians led by as many as eight points in the second quarter and took a 44-39 advantage to half-time but the Slovenians kept the pressure on.
Bostjan Nachbar had six points in the third quarter, Goran Dragic five and Gasper Vidmar four as Slovenia went in front by nine before taking a 65-59 lead to the fourth quarter.
After a Nachbar basket took the lead to 67-59, Croatia got hot from long range with Marko Popovic, Roko-Leni Ukic and Popovic again nailing three-balls.
That gave the team in red and white a 68-67 lead.
After Primoz Brezec took the advantage back to 69-68 for Slovenia, Marko Tomas buried a three-pointer to put Croatia in front at 71-69.
Miha Zupan answered with a three-pointer from the top of the key for Slovenia to spark an 11-0 run that put the Slovenians in front to stay.
Popovic and Ukic kept Croatia within striking distance by hitting difficult shots, closing the gap to 80-76.
But Slovenia held firm with Samo Udrih coming up with big plays.
Croatia lost the game, and big man Luka Zoric.
In the midst of an outstanding game with eight points and nine rebounds, Zoric fell awkwardly under the Slovenia basket and left the court with an apparent leg injury.
Slovenia improved to 2-1 while Croatia fell to 1-2.
