I actually just started playing this last night. Pretty addictive. Late night.

Though, had a nice stockpile going, was able to craft a compass so that I could keep an eye on my spawn point and start exploring, only to get shot up by a couple of those skeletons, die, lose everything I had on me INCLUDING my compass, only to find a"Your bed was either compromised or destroyed" message waiting for me. I had to search for ing 30 mins for my shelter. That. sucked.

Wow. This game is like having $10 million worth of legos. This is the most fun game I have played in years.

It surprisingly is. I stumbled upon an ore motherload and actually uttered the phrase "EUREKA!" in my best ol' timey miner's voice.

My work shift can't start soon enough...

^all that is pretty cool tbh, but i just can't see myself wasting the time to build all that in a game.

The game is def not for everyone, also those things are usually done in multiplayer.

I've been interested in getting this for a long time. If I wasn't just relegated to a laptop I would have already purchased it.

Saw a video where a guy built an entire city out of tnt blocks and it left a crater that could only be appreciated from as high as the game lets you go.

Yeah, cause if there's one reason I play games, it's to accomplish meaningful .

Uh duh! Of course no one plays games with the intention of creating meaningful things. Guess this is why i'm no gamer, i just don't see the point in wasting all my time on a game and getting nothing out of it.

Those things made in minecraft must've taken hrs, days, weeks, months, etc to create and to me that's a waste of time. I get it though, not everyone sees things like i do and that's fine by me.

When i said i got bored with minecraft or similar , i wasn't trying to convince anyone to follow my lead and stop playing that game. CryBaby, your'e too sensitive about your games, technology, and your lil lady.

Playing videogames are a hobby. A lot hobbies aren't really that useful (Stamp collecting, puzzles, etc). People don't do them to get things out of them, they do it to take a break from real life.

Koriwhat just doesnt understand what a sandbox game is.... And thats ok.

It's him who is missing out, no need to ridicule him for his own loss.

Its probably just not his type of game..... whatever.

Im the same way with FPS games, I got burnt out on them with Quake 3. They just dont appeal to me anymore no matter how good/bad I was at them.

    (hint: I was pretty good)

And Minecraft IS boring at times.

I agree. No need to rip someone for not liking the game. I can't think of a single game that appeals to everyone. To each his/her own.

The thing that made me give up on FPS games is that you invariably end up playing against someone who spends 10+ hours a day playing the game, who totally owns you, even if you are fairly good at it. They cease being fun when you get schooled constantly by ringers.

The thing about minecraft is that it is something I can share with both my kids, aged 8 and 4. They play on the "peaceful" mode, of course, without the exploding jackasses.

I have yet to really play in the multiplayer modes, but have had a lot of fun building castles, towers, and what have you. Made a huge Texas flag, started a massive forest fire, and did all sorts of fun stuff.

The only limit is what you can imagine. That is a pretty unique game.

I am working on the Obsidian Tower of Doom at the moment, and might actually make a Skull Castle with lava flowing from the eyes ala Zero Punctuation... (see the review at Escapist.com)

In between working on that, my eight year old and I are building a seaside hotel, with a fishing pier and giant US flag on a far island. In between I let the fouryear old putter around and do whatever he wants to. I gave the older boy some general instructions about what I wanted to do, showed him where the materials were, and let him build it himself. It was awesome seeing what he came up with.

Yes, the graphics suck ass. That is because I would imagine all the computing power is put into keeping track of all the blocks.

If you want to see some of the stuff that is possible, here is a good website:

this game isn't my thing either. Neither is Portal 2. Doesn't mean they aren't exceptional games.

    To each their own, indeed
