He's pretty good and versatile...but I agree I was reaching. I drew a blank and said ' it.' he's got a lot of talent but whenever I see him play he's always doing something stupid.

I'd take you or myself over Demichelis.

Anyone who watched Argentina this summer knows how bad he is. Slow and stupid. And apparently just as this season is getting underway, Bayern Munich dropped him from the starting lineup and he's voiced he wants to part ways with the club. Good decision for Bayern.

LOL, you're the biggest butthurt soccer poster in the forum.

I had Forlan like #3 (EDIT: #2) for world player of the year in the other thread, don't you think maybe I forgot to add him like DAF forgot to add Fabregas?

+1, Demichelis sucked so bad on this WC, that he even surpassed Heinze on my "players to get rid of the NT" list.

Yeah. That team had no chance with that horrible horrible horrible defense.

Heinze...Demichelis...and that Otamendi Maradona used often...just complete scrubs, all 3 of them horrendous. It was really a shame when Samuel was injured.

I just can't understand it, how I literally have more athletic ability than some Argentinian football players on the national team. There's no doubt in my mind I'm faster than Demichelis. Guarantee. Of course he's better at the game, but you can't go far with a guy at center back as slow and inconsistent as him.

And adding to the subject, it really is hard to rank soccer players, especially forwards, because they rely heavily on the team they play on. We tend to use statistics to evaluate these guys, and those stats can mislead us. One can score a ton of goals because he's on a great team, one can score tons of goals on a decent team as he gets most of the action up front, or you can have a great forward not scoring as many goals because of the quality of forwards that club has (see: Barcelona, Ibrahimovic).

Higuain scored one more goal than Ronaldo last season, but Ronaldo is clearly better, easily better. And who knows how the story will be at Barcelona this year, we'll likely see something similar with Messi + Villa. I just hope the heads at FIFA are able to recognize this (although they probably won't), because no matter the end results, Messi is still better than everyone.

So when it comes to ranking these guys, it's pretty damn hard, and any top 10 list is likely to not be exactly accurate, as things change constantly in terms of the factors that affect how we rank them.

The worst part is that our defense didn't suck for lack of players, we could have had a pretty good back 4 with: Zanetti, Burdisso, Samuel and Clemente Rodriguez.

    Maradona

I agree, that would have made a huge difference. I liked seeing C. Rodriguez out there, he showed heart and effort and actually had an effect on games. The other guys all had effects also, only mostly negative.

Crazy to think that Xavi, Iniesta, and Fabregas will likely all play for the same club next year... 3 of the top 5 midfielders according to Phenomanul. Regardless of what their true rankings would be, that will be nuts.

To me no matter the list there has to be two #1s who aren't even up for debate - Messi at forward and Xavi at midfielder. To me it's not even close.

    Forward:

    1) Messi
    2) C Ronaldo
    3) Drogba
    4) Forlan
    5) David Villa
    6) Eto'o

    8) Ibrahimovic
    9) Rooney
    10) Robinho

    Mid
    1) Xavi

    5) Schweinsteiger
    6) Ozil
    7) Essien
    8) Kaka
    9) Gerrard
    10) Ribery

    Def

    1) Carles Puyol
    2) Maicon

    I'll try:

    Forwards:

    1-Messi
    2-C.Ronaldo
    3-Drogba
    4-Forlan
    5-Rooney
    6-Villa
    7-Ibrahimovic
    8-Higuain
    9-Tevez
    10-Eto'o

    Miedfielders:

    1-Xavi
    2-Iniesta
    3-Sneijder
    4-Gerrard
    5-Ozil
    6-Fabregas
    7-Pirlo
    8-Schwensteiger
    9-Lampard
    10-Essien

    Defenders:

    1-Pique
    2-Lucio
    3-Puyol
    4-Maicon
    5-Samuel
    6-Alves
    7-Zanetti
    8-Ramos
    9-Terry
10-A.Cole (to have a left back)

    GoalKeeper:

    1-Julio Cesar
This is a really good list, mine would be really similar with some changes in the order. Carlos Salcido is the best LB in the world, Id slide him in at #10 over Cole. Also Iniesta>Xavi and Puyol>Pique.

To me no matter the list there has to be two #1s who aren't even up for debate - Messi at forward and Xavi at midfielder. To me it's not even close.
Disagree about Xavi. He's great and Id have him top 3 at his position but Id take Iniesta over him anyday. Xavi is all creativity and precise passing, very little pace. Iniesta has alittle bit of everything.

Today his sucking reached even for Demi himself a new level...

He told at the beginning of the season that he deserves/wants respect and that he isnt a bench player. Yes, even for a bench player he is too bad...

And if you watched Bayern games the last years, at least every 2nd game had the typical "Demi screwed up big time" moment...
