I got Duncan in over Shaq. Underachievers just don't cut it for me, I don't care how dominant you claim to be. The order of that list is way off. Hakeem replaces West, and everything else is about right. Anyone arguing Kobe not being top 10 is running off of pure haterade. I find it funny that Oscar Robertson thinks Lebron is the GOAT.
As far as Hype Machines go.....Lebron is the GOAT

Duncan is very similar player to Russell. I think he would have been successful today too. He was very athletic, BTW.

    Kareem at #8 is laughable.

Kobe's great at scoring a ton of points, but Duncan's first two championships were amazing display of skill and determination. Robinson was in decline by 2003 he wasn't even an all-star.

81 points is great I guess, but Kobe couldn't win once Shaq past his prime in 2003-2004, not even with Malone and Payton. He needed another legit franchise player in his prime to succeed. One could ask, if the Lakers would have won those 5 les (or perhaps more) with another elite SG/SF. For instance, the Heat with Wade playing at much higher level than Kobe won their only le with little help from Shaq.
MJ couldnt win without Pippen....Magic couldnt win without Kareem....Bird couldnt win without McHale....Dr J couldnt win without Moses....David couldnt win without Timmy...

The Heat were handed that Championship by the refs and the choking Mavs....

Right on article about "Mr. 25%'s" non-clutch performance last year when his teammates bailed him out and his fg% in the playoffs is 44.5% - not up there in historical standards. No way he is 6th all time, that is a laughable placement when Kareem or Duncan (or Shaq for that matter) are placed below him.

MJ couldnt win without Pippen....Magic couldnt win without Kareem....Bird couldnt win without McHale....Dr J couldnt win without Moses....David couldnt win without Timmy...

The Heat were handed that Championship by the refs and the choking Mavs....
    - Pippen reached the conference finals without MJ twice. Both times it went to 7 games and both times there were unfavorable calls for the Bulls in 94 and the Blazers in 00. The 00 team was more 'Sheed's team, still Pippen contributed importantly.

    - Magic won the championship in 80 by replacing Kareem at center during the last game of the finals. Kareem went down due to injury. Magic had a fantastic game, hence it's said Magic could play all five positions at all-star level. Kareem already won championships without Magic. In 91 Magic led the rebuilding Lakers to the finals.

    - Bird was so good he made look McHale and Parish much better than what they were. Bird had a complete domination of the NBA during his 3 MVP seasons.

    - The Spurs led by TD won the '03 with role player type of help from Robinson.

    - I saw the Mavs - Heat finals. Wade was playing at unbelievably high level, very aggressive. He looked like MJ. Riley made adjustments after the first two games. Part of those adjustments were that Shaq seldom played late in the games, when the Heat needed to shut down the Mavs, they used 'Zo at C. Sometimes even Walker. Posey and Walker were good guarding Nowitzki.

I would put Kareem at #2 also. If you factor in his college career as well, you can make an argument for him at #1.

Having Magic less than three on a list like that is a bigger travesty than having Kobe on the list at all.

I love Bill Russell, but he's getting awfully overrated now a days. Russell had a better team and the greatest coach of all time. I think Russell was amazing, but he doesn't deserve to be considered 1, 2 or 3.
Yea those 11 rings does not count at all.
He is just overrated because the times was the times and he had guys who were winning as he was winning

    /bit sarcasm

Howard-Cooper has no credibility and that goes for anyone who doesn't put Duncan in the top ten all-time. He fits every bit of criteria it makes sense to consider when determining all-time greats. If you don't think he's in it, you either didn't watch enough, didn't know enough of what you were watching, are biased or a combination of those three things.

I'd put O'Neal in. I was never a fan, particularly in his Laker days and you're right, he was an underachiever. But what does it say about him that he underachieved, yet still put together a resume few in the history of the game can match or exceed? True, he had nearly unmatched physical tools, in terms of overwhelming size, strength and in his younger days, exceptional athleticism for a man his size. As Walton would say, he was a winner of the genetic lottery. But still.

The Spurs needed two of the greatest defenders of all-time, plus another good defender and a third near 7-0'er/fourth plus defender, just to have a chance to get past him.

I don't see an argument for having Chamberlain in the top ten all-time, but not O'Neal. Put O'Neal in Chamberlain's era and he'd have likely approximated Chamberlain's stats, if not bettered them in some cases.

Bryant is a fringe top ten all-time player, with the most overinflated legacy in the history of the game. His greatest accomplishment is his remarkable longevity as a top five player. But, contrary to what the media and certain biased fans alike would have us believe with their revisionist history, he was never the best player in the game for an extended stretch and it was never his league, so to speak, the way it was Jordan's or O'Neal's or Duncan's.
