The Scottie Pippen of this generation
don't understand why lakers fans can't be proud of this, no instead they try to make him out to be the Michael Jordon of this generation. Pippen was an important player in those championship teams.

without him, jordon probably would have only won 5 les. without kobe, shaq/gasol and phil probably would have only won 4.

I think that the realization that after the Duncan area, the Spurs will no longer be a factor--a la Bulls post-Jordan is slowly seeping in. You see, they had a nice little run and unfortunately, there are only a few Duncans to come around. It was, after all, a perfect storm for them to get the 4 rings. The Lakers? Why, they're always a player away from contending. You could call them the Yanks of the NBA, but that's not giving credit to where it's due--the Lakers do this with a cap...Life is good when you're a Laker fan .

Exactly. Pippen was the second most important player of the late 80s and 90s. He was one heck of a player and Jordan was the only one who's better than him. Without Pippen, Jordan wouldn't have been able to win all those rings.

Pippen had all the qualities that Kobe has. Just like Kobe, Pippen was Jordan's Robin.

Just like Kobe, Pippen needed an all-time great to win rings.

Just like Kobe, Pippen was an exceptional facilitator and wing defender.

And last but not the least, Kobe can't win without a super-talented big man in his team. Pippen actually was better since he was able to drag the Bulls to the playoffs without Jordan.

I don't see the reason why Laker fans overreact when Kobe is compared to Pippen. That's not bad at all.
