Why? Everything is the same as paying the ticket, only you usualy pay less than the fine and it doesn't go on your record.
Well, it's not the same if you just want to pay the ticket through the mail or other methods, but the savings on insurance costs trump that for me.
what does insurance run on one of these things?
my last ticket was for not stopping 100% @ a damn stopsign in leonvalley about a year ago...i just paid the and left...the lady was like "sir, you realize this is going to be on your record!?"
uh..yeah. big deal lady. they wanted me to pay 200 for probation or another option was 75 bux and i still would have to take defensive drving...but the ticket was for like 100...so i just paid the and left...bas s.
To be quite honest I didn't see the few tickets I recieved screwing up my insurance premiums. But, then again I have had a clean driving record for the past several years.
And I have heard about taking defense driving and that it lowers your ticket as well as it not showing up on your record. Ed will be taking that course soon enough.

Oh, Leon Valley are ers. So are the other small muncipalities around here. The last ticket I got was actualy last September in Olmos Park for Regististration that was expeired. It wasn't expired though, I just had never recived the sticker in the mail.
Anyhow, I argued with them about it, but it turned out my old roomate knew the officer that gave me the ticket and he got it dismissed for me. Either way, those small towns are s when it comes to their cash cow.
I could mention another, George West. Talk about a-holes.
I had some pretty bad speeding violations that if I had let go on my record, probably would have sent my insurance rates climbing. Being an under 25 male, the changing wind can cause your rates to go up.
When I turned 25 earlier this year, my rates took a sharp turn downwards, it was wonderful.
Ed and I both pay the same. He is 31 and I am 26. Damn those two door vehicles!!
My mother has gotten stopped there on her last 2 trips to the valley. They got her for her license plate lights being out. It's ty, but they at least gave her a warning that time.
tip for everyone... if you are not from george west.. do not drive thru there. anyone they don't recognize they stop!
I got a ticket there a long time ago. $600 since it was past due. Bas s!
I'm pretty sure that's where I got stopped for not having a front license plate a couple of years ago. It was my birthday so he let me off with a warning....but wtf? No front license plate?

My old car didn't have the bracket for the front license plate, so I never installed one. Damn license plate was on the floor of the backseat for years. I got pulled over by DPS on the way down from Dallas. Got a warning, whew!
Did you know that they want to get rid of that front plate in Texas.
I don't speed anymore. And for whatever reason, while on 410 I find myself in the far right lane most of the time. Maybe the insurance companies do have it right, because I have mellowed out a lot.
I think of all the stupid I used to and it's a wonder I never got killed or at least wrapped my car around a telephone pole. I scared passangers in my car quite a few times, but I really am one of those slow poke drivers now.

i know some of the cops from george west. and it is true. they bust a lot of drug people for bs crap like license plates and speeding a few miles over the posted limit. g.w. is going to build a new police station and buy some more equipment from all the drug money they've confiscated.
Oh, and thats one thing that really pisses me off about those small towns. In order to generate revenue they pull people over for these obscure laws that have nothing to do with traffic saftey and everything to do with making money. That's absolute bull .
The traffic code is ridiculous, though. A cop really can find a justified reason to pull you over at almost anytime because of the amount of laws that are in there. It's pretty impossible to follow them all at once.
I stay to the right. I ing hate it when I am going faster and there is an asshole in the left hand lane going slow. that is why i say, if you don't know people in gw. don't drive thru. great chance of getting stopped... the locals get warnings and many times, "just don't do it again, mr. xyz"
It's a law here. In AZ, they only give you a one plate.
I did a big no-no when I first moved here. I backed into a car in a parking lot and the person called the cops. Anyway, I had a CA driver's license, AZ plates, and was living in TX. There's some tri-state law thing and I guess you could get a fine for that. But I didn't get one. I don't think he was too pleased that other person called the cops (this was like a week later). Or I just looked really cute that day...
