Your point is ignoring the argument because I said people who buy HTC phones. I NEVER said ANDROID phones. Since we are talking about a Windows Phone, anything else you've said in reference to Android has now become irrelevant, so I didn't read it.

It's a very simple point I've made. We're talking hardware, not software. So it doesn't matter what the OS is, hence why your Android talk is irrelevant. I didn't say anything about IOS 4 being the best, I talked about the hardware of the iPhone 4 and HTC ie the antennas.
Ok, to narrow it back down at your request. The hardware is a wash.

    Except for that retina display.

Ive seen it, its a slightly better looking screen. No big deal. Still a wash.

    It's all a matter of preference. I'll take a 4+ inch screen with 800x480 resolution over a 3.5" screen with 960x640.

Do you realize how absurd even 800x400 is? 15 year ago, desktop monitors were running at 600x480 and they were 15 inches!

My 22" desktop display doesn't have nearly the pixel density of the iPhone or even the Evo, and it still looks phenomenal. I've NEVER thought to myself, "Man, 1680x1050 just looks too pixelly". To say nothing of HDTVs which can be 60" and still sitting on 1080P, and few people talk about them needing more, except for WC . At the resolutions cell phones are presently running at, we've already reached the area of diminishing returns, until cell phone tech advances to the point where they will be able to project larger screens, somehow.

800 x 480 at 4" is getting small. my portable DVD player is 800 x 480, by 8". At 4", the resolution is about 240 dpi.

When even WC admits that you're pushing the bounds of pixel density, you know it's really not worth bragging about. Seriously, I have to shove the Evo up to my face to see any pixelation most of the time.

You're not a jet fighter pilot I assume. Supposedly a fighter pilot can still see the pixels on the Retina display but anyone with 20/20 vision can't.

Yes and no. The iPhones and Galaxy S have faster processors than the HTCs (namely Evo). Both processors share the same "DNA" so to speak.

And the iPhone cameras are better because of the thinner sensors.

And the HTC screens have been shown to fall behind both the Retina and Super AMOLED screens. But other than that, sure.

Yep, you are right, I don't know what to say other than these are HUGE Revolutionary differences. No one has ever made minor incremental progress in processor technology, or created a backlit screen with good resolution. Not a wash at all.

I don't know how much more you can pack up the pixels, but the difference between the retina display and anything before it is goddamn noticeable. Much crisper display, much easier on the eyes to read fine print. I mean, if you had anything before it and one of them to compare the difference on the change was truly abysmal. The Evo was certainly the first to do the pixel packing and closest.

And the DVD player comparison is simply re ed considering a full progressive scan DVD is 720x480 max. Any bigger resolution needs upscaling which could never deliver better image than the max. Displays like the phone do the native rendering of 3D/Text at the full res, which takes full advantage of any increased res.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing HTC or the EVO. It's a fine phone and the screen is certainly big and clear. They were actually the innovators packing that many pixels in there and they should get the credit for going that route. It was certainly a good decision that I'm sure forced Apple's hand as far as having to go out there and outdo them.
